A system for generating electricity, heat, and desalinated water having a gas turbine system connected to a first electric generator, a waste heat recovery boiler (WHRB) system, a combined heat and power (CHP) generation system connected to a second electric generator, one or more solar powered energy systems, and a desalination system. The desalination system is connected to the CHP generation system and the WHRB system. The gas turbine system generates electricity and heat, the WHRB system is connected to and uses the exhaust of the gas turbine system to provide heat and steam power to the CHP generation system. The CHP generation system produces and provides electricity and heat to the desalination system, which produces product water, and at least one solar powered energy system provides thermal energy to one or more of the gas turbine system, the WHRB system, the CHP generation system, and the desalination system.

The plant includes a waste receiving apparatus for receiving biomass waste and processing it into a liquid stream before passing it to, anaerobic hydrolysis tanks for hydrolysis, acidification and acetylation of the stream, before passing it to, a heat exchanger for raising the temperature of the stream to a pasteurization temperature, pasteurization tanks for holding the stream at the pasteurization temperature to ensure adequate pasteurization before passing it to, and anaerobic methanogenesis tanks for anaerobic digestion of a portion of the stream into biogas. Also included is a centrifugation apparatus to separate oil from the stream, wherein at least a portion of the stream which is downstream of the hydrolysis tank(s) and upstream of the methanogenesis tank(s), and which has a temperature of above 68? C., is centrifuged by the centrifugation apparatus to remove a portion of the oil.

An apparatus, system and method to purify water is disclosed. In addition, the apparatus, system and method can effectively discharge the brine effluent. The apparatus can comprise an offshore structure, wherein the offshore structure comprises a water intake device connected to a pre-desalination filters connected to a plurality of reverse osmosis filters in communication with a purified water line and effluent discharge device. A plurality of filters for filtering the water from the intake, filter the water to remove solid contaminates before running the filtered water through the reverse osmosis system to the discharge device and purified water lines. Herein also disclosed is a wastewater discharge system. In an embodiment, the system comprises a control panel that controls, the offshore structure plurality of filters, plurality of reverse osmosis filters, purified water line and effluent discharge device, to achieve favorable water purification. Herein also described is a method that utilizes the apparatus and/or system disclosed herein. In an embodiment, the method comprises: obtaining an offshore structure comprising a water purification system, flowing water into an inlet device, pumping the water through a filtration system, flowing the filtered water through a plurality of reverse osmosis filters; flowing purified water through a purified water line; and flowing discharge effluent through a discharge device.

Certain aspects of natural gas liquid fractionation plant waste heat conversion to simultaneous power and potable water using Kalina Cycle and modified multi-effect-distillation system can be implemented as a system. The system includes a waste heat recovery heat exchanger network coupled to multiple heat sources of a Natural Gas Liquid (NGL) fractionation plant. The heat exchanger network is configured to transfer at least a portion of heat generated at the multiple heat sources to a first buffer fluid and a second buffer fluid flowed through the first heat exchanger network. The system includes a first sub-system configured to generate power. The first sub-system is thermally coupled to the waste heat recovery heat exchanger. The system includes a second sub-system configured to generate potable water from brackish water. The second sub-system is thermally coupled to the waste heat recovery heat exchanger.

A Biorefinery System (BIOSYS) that effectively treats all human activity-derived waste (black water, grey water, and food waste streams) using biological systems and that produces as process by-products: recovered potable water, liberated free oxygen, edible protein cake (with and without lipids), soil amendments, and machinery lube oils. Additionally, the system captures and chemically binds carbon dioxide into microbial cells and associated by-products, thus producing recovered usable returned cabin air.

The present disclosure relates to water purification. The teachings thereof may be embodied in processes for removing contaminants from contaminated water. An example process may include: boiling or evaporating a contaminated water to distill the contaminated water; removing a vapor stream from the boiling or evaporating contaminated water; delivering the vapor stream to an oxidation unit; removing additional contaminants from the vapor stream in the oxidation unit; and discharging a purified water stream from the oxidation unit.
