WATERLESS ELECTRICALLY OPERATED PROPELLANT

An electrically operated propellant includes an electrolyte source. The electrolyte source is an ionic liquid, a polyelectrolyte, or a combination thereof. The electrically operated propellant also includes a polymeric binder. The electrically operated propellant is substantially waterless with a water content of less than 10 wt. % water based on total weight of the electrically operated propellant.

High density hybrid rocket motor

A high density, generally recognized as safe hybrid rocket motor is described which has a density-specific impulse similar to a solid rocket motor, with good performance approaching or equal to a liquid rocket motor. These high density hybrid motors resolve the packaging efficiency/effectiveness problems limiting the application of safe, low cost hybrid motor technology.

HIGH FIDELITY SHEET EXPLOSIVE SIMULANTS

An explosive sheet simulant that uses an ethylene vinyl acetate polymer combined with a mixture of a boron carbide and iron oxide for X-ray attenuating properties, and components of the mixture selected for predetermined flexural modulus combined with particle density, effective atomic number, X-ray transmission properties, or millimeter wave properties.

High fidelity sheet explosive simulants

An explosive sheet simulant that uses an ethylene vinyl acetate polymer combined with either a mixture of a boron carbide and iron oxide for X-ray attenuating properties or calcium carbonate for millimeter wave properties, wherein the components of the mixture are selected such that the sheet has a predetermined flexural modulus combined with particle density, effective atomic number, x-ray transmission properties, or millimeter wave properties.

Explosive composition and method of delivery

Disclosed herein is an explosive composition for soft and wet ground. The explosive composition comprises an explosive comprising an oxidiser component in a water in oil emulsion or a water gel, and a bulking agent comprising discrete particles of a combustible substance. The combustible substance is water soluble but, in the explosive composition, migration of the combustible substance from the discrete particles to the oxidiser component is inhibited. Also disclosed is a method for delivering an explosive composition to a borehole, for example a borehole in soft and wet ground.

Water-based explosive suspension

The present invention relates to a water-based non-sensitized matrix or explosive suspension which itself has a rheological behavior such that it allows mechanically loading upward boreholes. This suspension behaves like a viscous liquid when it is forced to flow due to the action of a loading pump, and, however, has the characteristics of a soft solid when it is on standby once inside the borehole. The composition essentially consists of an aqueous solution of oxidizing salts and optionally water-soluble fuels and/or sensitizers, and one or more water-soluble polymers conferring the desired rheological characteristics. Particles of oxidizing salts with a grain size such that they enhance the rheological behavior characteristic of the suspension are dispersed in this aqueous solution.

EXPLOSIVES COMPOSITION

The present invention relates to a water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion explosive comprising one or more of graphene oxide (GO), partially reduced graphene oxide (prGO), and functionalized graphene oxide (fGO). There is also provided a method of improving one or more properties of a water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion explosive.

Smoke-Producing Compositions

The present disclosure relates to non-toxic smoke-producing compositions for producing colored smoke. In particular, the smoke-producing compositions are free from chlorinated compounds and organic dyes from the family of anthraquinones (or derivatives). The smoke-producing compositions can be used to produce pyrotechnic devices suitable for use in the military and civilian fields.
