METHOD OF PRODUCING PLANT BIOMASS-BASED BIOPLASTIC
This invention relates to the field of producing bioplastics. Specifically, it relates to a method of producing all key ingredients of bioplastic making from pumpkins and making of bioplastic with these ingredients. More specifically, glycerin and other chemicals are extracted from pumpkin seed oil and mixed with starches that in the pumpkin flesh to make bioplastic. The bioplastic produced with the method as disclosed in this invention possess superior properties in tensile strength and biodegradability compared to bioplastic.
SYNTHESIS OF PHEROMONES AND RELATED MATERIALS VIA OLEFIN METATHESIS
Methods for preparation of olefins, including 8- and 11-unsaturated monoenes and polyenes, via transition metathesis-based synthetic routes are described. Metathesis reactions in the methods are catalyzed by transition metal catalysts including tungsten-, molybdenum-, and ruthenium-based catalysts. The olefins include insect pheromones useful in a number of agricultural applications.

Method for producing fatty acid esters and glycerol at a low temperature
A method for producing fatty acid alkyl esters and glycerol implementing a set of transesterification reactions between at least one vegetable or animal oil and at least one aliphatic monoalcohol includes: introducing, into a three-dimensional microball mill at least one vegetable and/or animal oil, at least one aliphatic monoalcohol and at least one heterogenous and/or homogenous catalyst in order to form an initial mixture; grinding the initial mixture at a temperature50 C., in a three-dimensional microball mill, for a residence time5 minutes; recovering, at the outlet of the three-dimensional mill, a final mixture including at least fatty acid alkyl esters, glycerol, the catalyst and the aliphatic monoalcohol that has not reacted; and separating this final mixture of a first phase including the fatty acid alkyl esters and of a second phase including the glycerol, the aliphatic monoalcohol that has not reacted and the catalyst.
