Methods of manufacturing articles utilizing foam particles
Methods for manufacturing articles of footwear are provided. In various aspects, the methods comprise utilizing additive manufacturing methods with foam particles. In some aspects, the disclosed methods comprise selectively depositing a binding material on foam particles in a target area such that the binding material coats at least a portion of defining surfaces of the foam particles with the binding material. The binding material is then cured to affix foam particles in the target area to one another. In various aspects, the disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that differential levels of affixing between the foam particles, and thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR HAVING A MIDSOLE WITH MULTIPLE PORTIONS AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Articles of footwear and soles are disclosed. The article of footwear may include an upper, a midsole with a midsole core and a midsole rim, and an outsole. The midsole core may be manufactured from a plurality of portions that are arranged in a particular order before being placed in a mold. The plurality of portions may be arranged so that the portions at least partially overlap each other. The plurality of portions may be arranged in longitudinal strips. The plurality of portions may be arranged in lateral portions. The plurality of portions may be adhered to each other before being placed in the mold. The mold may apply heat and pressure for a predetermined amount of time to form the midsole.
SOLE STRUCTURE AND SHOES USING SAME
An outsole includes: a first stud projecting downwards in a stationary manner in a vertical direction from a reference surface and having a first projection surface; and a second stud having a second projection surface. The second stud moves in the vertical direction so that, when an external force acts on the second projection surface, the outsole hollow is compressively transformed and the second projection surface comes close to the reference surface.
FOOTWEAR WITH A TWO-PART SOLE HAVING GUIDE ELEMENTS FOR PASSING A NYLON CABLE
Footwear including an upper, a sole, and a lacing system which involves the use of a nylon cable tensioned by a rotor placed on the upper. The sole is composed of two separate portions, of which a first portion or midsole is made of plastic and possibly recycled or recyclable polymers, for example TPU or rubber or other non-rigid polymers; the midsole has a lower portion on which lowered seats are made and said lowered seats are suitable for housing two lateral guide elements, which are made of rigid plastic polymers and which are suitable for passing and guiding said nylon cable.
FOOTWEAR AIRBAG WITH FLEXIBLE ELECTRONIC INTERCONNECT
Articles of footwear, systems, and methods include an upper portion, a lower portion, secured to the upper portion, the lower portion including an out-sole and an airbag assembly. The airbag assembly includes a first sheet and a second sheet forming a seal therebetween around a perimeter of the first and second sheets. The airbag assembly further includes an electronic assembly, comprising a circuit board and electrical conductors disposed on the circuit board, wherein an internal portion of the electronic assembly is disposed between the first and second sheets and within the seal formed therebetween and an external portion of the electronic assembly is disposed outside of the seal.
Footwear bladder system
A sole structure for an article of footwear includes a midsole with a bladder system having a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a heel region. The bladder system defines a first sealed chamber retaining fluid as a first cushioning layer, the first sealed chamber extending over the forefoot region, the midfoot region, and the heel region. The bladder system further defines multiple discreet sealed chambers retaining fluid in isolation from one another, each of the multiple discreet chambers disposed at one side of the first sealed chamber, and fluidly isolated from the first sealed chamber.
FOOTWEAR SOLE PLATE WITH FOREFOOT THROUGH HOLE
A sole structure for an article of footwear may have a midsole system that includes a sole plate having a forefoot region and a midfoot region. The sole plate may have a foot-facing surface and a ground-facing surface opposite to the foot-facing surface. The sole plate may define a through hole extending from the foot-facing surface to the ground-facing surface in the forefoot region. The through hole may be closer to a medial edge of the sole plate than to a lateral edge of the sole plate. The sole plate may have ridges extending longitudinally in the midfoot region and in the forefoot region. The ridges may have crests at least some of which may extend non-parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction of the sole plate.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR WITH THERMOFORMED SIPED SOLE STRUCTURE
An article of footwear includes an upper and a sole structure that is thermoformed to the upper. The upper has a ground facing surface, and opposing medial and lateral sidewalls disposed on opposite sides of the ground facing surface. The sole structure has an inner surface adhered to the upper and an outer surface that is opposite the inner surface. The sole structure includes a thermoplastic base layer that defines the inner surface of the sole structure. The sole structure further includes a thermoplastic outer layer integrally formed with the base layer. The outer layer has a plurality of protuberances, each protuberance has an outer face that defines a portion of the outer sole surface, and the outer layer further includes a plurality of splayed sipes extending across a portion of the sole structure. Each splayed sipe generally extends between at least two adjacent protuberances.
INTERMEDIATE SOLE STRUCTURE WITH SIPING
An intermediate sole structure for an article of footwear includes a foamed thermoplastic sole component. The foamed thermoplastic sole component has a foamed thermoplastic base layer and a foamed thermoplastic outer layer that is integrally formed with the foamed thermoplastic base layer. The outer layer includes a plurality of sipes extending through the outer layer and terminating at the base layer. The thermoplastic sole component has an inner surface defined by the base layer, an opposite, outer surface defined by the outer layer, and a thickness defined between the inner surface and the outer surface. The inner surface is substantially planar and is operative to be adhered to a ground-facing surface of an upper. Additionally, the thickness is smaller at a peripheral edge of the sole component than within a central region.
