Even carbon number paraffin composition and method of manufacturing same
Paraffin compositions including mainly even carbon number paraffins, and a method for manufacturing the same, is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the method involves contacting naturally occurring fatty acid/glycerides with hydrogen in a slurry bubble column reactor containing bimetallic catalysts with equivalent particle diameters from about 10 to about 400 micron. The even carbon number compositions are particularly useful as phase change material.
Heterogeneous catalysts
Heterogeneous catalysts with optional dopants are provided. The catalysts are useful in a variety of catalytic reactions, for example, the oxidative coupling of methane to C.sub.2+ hydrocarbons. Related methods for use and manufacture of the same are also disclosed.
BORON NITRIDE CONTAINING VACANT SITE DEFECTS FOR USE IN CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION
A composition comprising a boron nitride hexagonal lattice structure in which boron atoms and nitrogen atoms are present in a B:N molar ratio of 1:4-1:8 or 4:1-8:1, wherein the molar ratio corresponds to vacant site defects within the boron nitride hexagonal lattice structure. Also described are methods for producing the boron nitride composition as well as methods for using the boron nitride composition as a catalyst in a hydrogenation process.
MULTIMETALLIC CATALYSTS
A multimetallic catalyst having a substrate, promoter and catalytic metal.
DIENE PRODUCTION METHOD
A method for producing diene in which diene can be produced in a high yield by using a raw material including a branched olefin and a straight chain olefin is provided. The method for producing diene comprises: a step 1 of obtaining an internal olefin by removing a branched olefin from a raw material including at least the branched olefin and a straight chain olefin; a step 2 of isomerizing the internal olefin to a terminal olefin by using an isomerization catalyst; and a step 3 of producing diene from the terminal olefin obtained in the step 2 by oxidative dehydrogenation using a dehydrogenation catalyst.
Production and use of dialkylbiphenyl isomer mixtures
A process is described for converting at least one isomer of a dialkyl-substituted biphenyl compound, such as at least one 2,X dialkylbiphenyl isomer (where X is 2, 3 and/or 4), into at least one different isomer, 3,3, 3,4 and/or 4,4 dialkylbiphenyl isomer. The process comprises contacting a feed comprising the dialkyl-substituted biphenyl compound isomer with an acid catalyst under isomerization conditions.
PROCESS FOR CONVERTING PARAFFIN TO OLEFIN AND CATALYST FOR USE THEREIN
The invention relates to a process for converting paraffin to olefin comprising the following steps: (a) providing a hydrocarbon feedstock containing at least one paraffin having 1 to 12 carbon atoms and at least one olefin having 2 to 12 carbon atoms; (b) providing a catalyst containing at least one Group VIA and/or Group VIIA transition metal on a solid support; (c) pretreating the catalyst by contacting the catalyst with at least one reducing gas and at least one oxidizing gas; and (d) contacting the hydrocarbon feedstock and the pretreated catalyst at a temperature in the range of 200 C. to 600 C., preferably 320 C. to 450 C. and to a catalyst for use therein.
