FREE-RADICAL POLYMERIZATION METHODS AND ARTICLES THEREBY
A method of curing a free-radically polymerizable composition includes contacting a curable composition with at least one metal oxide selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide, ferrous metal oxides, aluminum oxide, nickel oxide, silver oxide, and combinations thereof. The curable composition includes: free-radically polymerizable compound; and a beta-dicarbonyl compound represented by the formula (I) or a salt thereof, wherein: X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 independently represent a covalent bond, wherein each R.sup.4 independently represents H or alkyl having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent a hydrocarbyl or substituted-hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, or a hydrocarbyl or substituted-hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, or taken together any two of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, or R.sup.3 form a five-membered or six-membered ring; an organic peroxide; and a quaternary ammonium halide. Articles including the cured compositions are also disclosed.

Process for polymerisation of ethylene
The present invention is directed to a process for the production of high density polyethylene by polymerisation of ethylene in the presence of a supported chromium oxide based catalyst which is modified with an organic compound comprising oxygen and a nitrogen atom which is selected from the group consisting of saturated heterocyclic organic compounds with a five or six membered ring, amino esters and amino alcohols. Such organic compounds allow manufacturing of HDPE with increases molecular weight distribution and increased molecular weight.
High molecular weight polymers having high olefin content
The present invention discloses polymers prepared from polar vinyl monomers and non-polar olefin monomers with the polymers having high olefin content and high weight average molecular weights as well as methods of preparing them. The inventive polymers possess interesting properties that make them particularly attractive in several industrial applications.

Method for producing polyethylene
The present invention relates to a method for consecutively producing at least two different polyethylene resins in one slurry loop reactor, comprising producing a first polyethylene resin in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta and/or a Chromium catalyst, and consecutively producing a second polyethylene resin in the presence of a metallocene catalyst, characterized in that the ratio of the melt flow index of the first produced polyethylene resin to the melt flow index of the second produced polyethylene resin is at least 0.3.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING MAGNESIUM ALCOHOLATE
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a spherical or ellipsoidal magnesium alcoholate having a narrow particle size distribution even when the particle size is small.
The present invention provides a method for producing a magnesium alcoholate by adding in a portionwise manner to a reaction system and reacting, metallic magnesium, an alcohol, and at least one of a halogen or a halogen atom-containing compound in the reaction system under alcohol reflux, which is a method for producing a magnesium alcoholate characterized in that a mixture of metallic magnesium, an alcohol, and at least one of a halogen or a halogen atom-containing compound is added to the reaction system at each portionwise addition.
Acrylic polymers having controlled placement of functional groups
Acrylic copolymers that include the controlled placement of functional groups within the polymer structure are provided. The copolymers contain a reactive segment and a non-reactive segment and are manufactured via a controlled radical polymerization process. The copolymers are useful in the manufacture of adhesives and elastomers.
