COMPOSITE AND LAMINATE ARTICLES AND POLYMERIZABLE SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A composite material comprises a reinforcing material carried in a polymer matrix material which is the polymerization product of a polymerizable composition comprising a di-activated vinyl compound, with the proviso that the di-activated vinyl compound is not a cyanoacrylate. The reinforcing materials may be a wide variety of substrates including thermally sensitive materials. Exemplary composites can be molded and cured at ambient temperatures. Also disclosed are laminate materials having layered materials adhered by curing a di-activated vinyl polymerizable composition.
CURABLE AND CURED ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS
Curable adhesive compositions are provided that can be cured using ultraviolet or visible light radiation. These curable adhesive compositions, which contain a curable (meth)acrylate copolymer, have a creep compliance that is less than 5(10.sup.−4) inverse Pascals at 25° C., a creep compliance that is greater than 1(10.sup.−3) inverse Pascals at 70° C., and a shear storage modulus greater than 40 kiloPascals when measured at 25° C. at a frequency of 1 radian/second.

HYDROPHILIC COPOLYMER AND MEDICAL DEVICE
Disclosed is a hydrophilic copolymer including more than 50% by mol of a structural unit derived from a polymerizable monomer (A) from which a homopolymer having a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) is formed, a structural unit derived from a polymerizable monomer (B) having at least one group selected from the group consisting of a sulfonic acid group (−SO.sub.3H), a sulfate group (−OSO.sub.3H), a sulfurous acid group (−OSO.sub.2H), and a group of salts thereof, and a structural unit derived from a polymerizable monomer (C) having a photoreactive group. Also disclosed is a medical device including the hydrophilic copolymer. The medical device exhibits high sliding property until it reaches a target lesion, and low sliding property after reaching the target lesion. Methods of making and using the hydrophilic copolymer and medical device are also described.
