In an additive for an epoxy adhesive and an epoxy adhesive composition for construction including same, the additive for an epoxy adhesive is formed by atomic transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of a polyacrylate of which one terminal is halogenated, as an arm-polymer, and a diacrylate-based compound or a dimethacrylate-based compound, as a cross-linker, and comprises a star polymer of a star-shape having a core/shell structure including a core formed by the polymerization of the cross-linker and a shell formed by a portion of the arm-polymer.

Use of polycarbonate for the manufacture of hollow containers

The present invention relates to the use of an aromatic polycarbonate prepared by the transesterification of a bisphenol and a diaryl carbonate and having a viscosity average molecular weight, Mv, of from 22000 to 32000 g/mol, a polydispersity, defined as Mw/Mn, of from 1.8-3.2, a melt-flow index of from 3.0-10 g/10 min as determined in accordance with ASTM D 1238 (1.2 kg, 300° C.), an amount of Fries branching of from 750 to 2500 ppm, for the manufacture of bottles having a volume of at least 15 liter by means of an injection blow moulding or an extrusion blow moulding process.

The present invention provides new classes of phenol compounds, including those derived from tyrosol and analogues, useful as monomers for preparation of biocompatible polymers, and biocompatible polymers prepared from these monomeric phenol compounds, including novel biodegradable and/or bioresorbable polymers. These biocompatible polymers or polymer compositions with enhanced bioresorbability and processibility are useful in a variety of medical applications, such as in medical devices and con-trolled-release therapeutic formulations. The invention also provides methods for preparing these monomeric phenol compounds and biocompatible polymers.
