The present invention relates to a resin composition comprising: a base resin comprising a petroleum resin of which at least a part is hydrogenated or non-hydrogenated; and an additive comprising a modified C.sub.9 polymer having a structure in which a molecular weight modifier binds to at least one terminal of the two terminals of the petroleum resin of which at least a part is hydrogenated or non-hydrogenated. The present invention also relates to a gas barrier film comprising the resin composition, and a tire.
Composite material
A composite material and method of producing a composite material for use in fabrication, building and construction is disclosed. A composition as disclosed herein comprises a high proportion of particulate waste material dispersed in a matrix of thermoplastic polymer and wax. A method of producing a composite material comprises melt mixing thermoplastic polymer and wax with a particulate material, thereby dispersing the particulate material in a melt mixture of the composite material.

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE ALLOY HAVING TALC
A method of forming a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) mixture with talc includes: providing a feed of PET (PET feed); providing a feed of talc (talc feed); mixing the feed of PET with the feed of talc in a mixer at a PET:talc ratio of about 3:1 to about 1:3 to form a PET/talc mixture; and providing the PET/talc mixture as output. A method of forming a Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) alloy having talc includes: providing a feed of the PET/talc mixture (PET/talc feed); providing a feed of PET (PET feed); mixing the feed of PET with the feed of PET/talc in a mixer to form a PET alloy having from about 1% (w/w) talc to about 50% talc (w/w); and providing the PET alloy as output.
PARTICULATE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING A METAL PRECURSOR FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING AND METHODS ASSOCIATED THEREWITH
Additive manufacturing processes, such as powder bed fusion of thermoplastic particulates, may be employed to form printed objects in a range of shapes. It is sometimes desirable to form conductive traces upon the surface of printed objects. Conductive traces and similar features may be introduced during additive manufacturing processes by incorporating a metal precursor in a thermoplastic printing composition, converting a portion of the metal precursor to discontinuous metal islands using laser irradiation, and performing electroless plating. Suitable printing compositions may comprise a plurality of thermoplastic particulates comprising a thermoplastic polymer, a metal precursor admixed with the thermoplastic polymer, and optionally a plurality of nanoparticles disposed upon an outer surface of each of the thermoplastic particulates, wherein the metal precursor is activatable to form metal islands upon exposure to laser irradiation. Melt emulsification may be used to form the thermoplastic particulates.
Universal pigmentary preparations for colouring and reenforcing plastics
The invention concerns a pigmentary preparation having universality of use in tinting plastics.
ANTIFOAM COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING BRANCHED SILOXANES
A defoamer or anti-foam formulation and a process for preparing the same. The process includes in a first step, preparing branched organopolysiloxanes (A) by irradiating organopolysiloxanes (X) of the formula (1)
R.sup.1.sub.3-a(R.sup.2O).sub.aSi—[OSiR.sup.3.sub.2].sub.n—OSi(OR.sup.2).sub.aR.sup.1.sub.3-a (1).
Where with high-energy radiation, the viscosity of the organopolysiloxanes (A) is at least 40% higher than the viscosity of the organopolysiloxanes (X). In a second step, the branched organopolysiloxanes (A) are treated with a filler (B) which is selected from precipitated and/or fumed silicas, and organopolysiloxane resins (C).
In situ bonding of carbon fibers and nanotubes to polymer matrices
A method for forming a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composite by distributing carbon fibers or nanotubes into a molten polymer phase comprising one or more molten polymers; and applying a succession of shear strain events to the molten polymer phase so that the molten polymer phase breaks the carbon fibers successively with each event, producing reactive edges on the broken carbon fibers that react with and cross-link the one or more polymers. The composite shows improvements in mechanical properties, such as stiffness, strength and impact energy absorption.
