A method includes producing recycled products from a plurality of used absorbent articles, each including a top sheet, a back sheet and an absorbent body including absorbent body materials, by recovering a plurality of structural members from the plurality of used absorbent articles. At least one of the top sheet and the back sheet includes a film. The method includes: separating the plurality of used absorbent articles into a plurality of the films and the absorbent body materials; sorting the plurality of films into a plurality of types of recyclable films according to the filler contents of the plurality of films; and forming a plurality of types of recycled resin pellets from the plurality of types of recyclable films.
Degradable materials and packaging made from same
A water-soluble film, comprising a first water-soluble film, wherein the first water soluble film disintegrates in water within less than about 24 hours and dissolves in water within less than about 48 hours as measured by the MSTM-205 at 20 C. The disclosure provides a water-soluble film comprising a first water-soluble film that disintegrates in water within less than 24 hours and dissolves in water within less than 48 hours as measured by MSTM-205 at 20 C. The first water-soluble film optionally may be further characterized in that it does not disintegrate in water for at least about 1 hour and does not dissolve in water for at least about 1 hour as measured by MSTM-205 at 20 C. The disclosure further provides a water-soluble film comprising a first water-soluble film characterized in that the degradation and/or dissolution of the first water-soluble film is adapted to be activated by consumer handling.
Self-integrating hydrogels and methods for making the same
A self-integrating hydrogel includes a water-soluble polymer. The water-soluble polymer includes a repeating unit having at least one functional group that includes an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or a nitrogen atom, and a pendant chain covalently attached to the oxygen atom, the sulfur atom, or the nitrogen atom of the at least one functional group of the repeating unit. The pendant chain includes ureido-pyrimidinone.
Water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol film with plasticizer blend, related methods, and related articles
Disclosed herein are water-soluble films including a polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) polymer and a combination of at least three plasticizers. The combination of plasticizers includes dipropylene glycol as a first plasticizer, a sugar alcohol such as sorbitol as a second plasticizer, and a polyol such as glycerin as a third plasticizer. When the PVOH polymer and plasticizers are blended in particular proportions and/or selected with regard to various criteria related to physical and chemical film properties, the resulting water-soluble film formed from the PVOH resin blend exhibits beneficial combinations four) of aged tensile strength, aged melting transition delta elevation, aged adhesion value, and/or resistance to seal peeling, which provide strong film seals that retain their water-solubility characteristics.
Modified polyvinyl alcohol and water-soluble film
The present invention provides: a water-soluble film that is superior in cold water solubility and in practical properties such as strength and stiffness and that can resist deterioration in various properties such as chemical resistance over time; and a modified polyvinyl alcohol used for the water-soluble film. The present invention relates to a modified polyvinyl alcohol containing 0.05 to 10 mol % of a monomer unit having two carboxyl groups. In .sup.1H-NMR spectroscopy of the modified polyvinyl alcohol, an integral (X) from 6.8 to 7.2 ppm and an integral (Y) from 5.3 to 5.5 ppm satisfy the following expression:
