Thermal transfer recording sheet

An object of the present invention is to provide a thermal transfer recording sheet that enables images having a wide color gamut, a high chroma, and good lightfastness, in which the degree of catalytic fading is reduced, to be formed. The thermal transfer recording sheet includes a base material and a colorant layer on the base material. The colorant layer includes a yellow dye layer, a magenta dye layer, and a cyan dye layer. The dye layers each include, as a dye, a compound having a specific structure.

Ambient temperature liquid-form organic materials and use thereof

An organic material consisting of a -conjugated molecule which is in a liquid form at ambient temperature and use thereof are provided. The ambient temperature liquid-form organic material according to the present invention consists of a -conjugated molecule having 2 or more side chains, the 2 or more side chains are same or different side chains selected from the group consisting of a branched alkyl chain, an alkyl chain having a polymerization site at a terminal, an oligosiloxane chain, a fluorocarbon chain, an oligoethylene glycol chain and derivatives thereof, and each of the 2 or more side chains is bound directly or via a substituent to the -conjugated molecule.

Nitrodiarylethenes as fluorescence quenchers for nucleic acid probes

Fluorescence quenching nitrodiarylethene analogs are useful in oligonucleotide conjugates and probes. These analogs, whose absorption spectra are substantially blue-shifted relatively to emission spectra of common fluorophores (such as fluorescein), do not need to rely on spectral overlap of quencher absorbance and fluorophore's emission for their quenching abilities. The oligonucleotide-quencher conjugates may be used in detection methods for nucleic acid targets.

Optical filter

An optical filter includes: a transparent substrate; and an absorption layer on the transparent substrate, the absorption layer containing at least one dye (X) having a maximum absorption wavelength in 600 to 1000 nm. A laminate of the transparent substrate and the absorption layer satisfies all of the following characteristics (i-2) to (i-4): (i-2) a maximum internal transmittance in 700 to 850 nm is 35% or lower; (i-3) a difference between the maximum internal transmittance and a minimum internal transmittance in 700 to 850 nm is 20% or smaller; and (i-4) OD(A) and OD(B) satisfy the following relationship: OD(A)/OD(B)<0.07 where OD(A) is an average optical density of an internal transmittance in 500 to 600 nm and OD(B) is an average optical density of an internal transmittance in 700 to 850 nm.

Temperature programmable small molecules for thermoresponsive smart windows and applications thereof

Design and applications of a class of water-soluble small molecules represented by formula 1. The molecules, in their dilute aqueous solutions, exhibit lower critical solution temperature (LCST) phase transitions near room temperature, inducing a temperature triggered switching of opacity. Further, disclosed is a scalable smart window, akin to a radiative energy management system, that can be incorporated into the built environment for imparting energy efficiency. The window fabrication is facile wherein the aqueous solution is sandwiched between two transparent glass panes to enable modulation of light and heat transmission. The dynamic window of present invention represents with multifarious applications in developing scalable, smart energy management systems for indoor building environments is envisioned to be a major contribution towards cost effective smart glass technologies. ##STR00001##
