In particular, the aqueous coating composition comprises component A comprising a film-forming resin composition, at least one starch, optional aqueous carriers, and optional additional additives; wherein the at least one starch is present in an amount of 2-20% by weight, preferably in an amount of 4-10% by weight relative to the total weight of the component A, and wherein the coating formed by the aqueous coating composition has a 60° gloss of no more than 5° using ASTM D523. The present application is further directed to a coating and article formed from the aqueous coating composition, wherein the coating and article have a haptic effect.
