The invention provides a gelcoat composition for coating a sanitised water pool, the composition comprising: curable polymeric components comprising: (i) an unsaturated polyester base resin and (ii) a polyester-polyurethane prepolymer, wherein the polyester-polyurethane prepolymer is terminally functionalised with polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated functional groups; and reactive diluent, wherein the unsaturated polyester base resin is present in an amount of greater than 50 wt. % of the curable polymeric components, and wherein the polyester-polyurethane prepolymer is present in an amount of no more than 25 wt. % of the gelcoat composition.

Multilayer coating film forming method

Provided is a method for forming a multilayer coating film including the following steps (1) to (4): (1) applying a base paint (X) to a substrate to form a base coating film; (2) applying a specific effect pigment dispersion (Y) to the base coating film formed in step (1) to form an effect coating film with a specific dry film thickness; (3) applying a clear paint (Z) to the effect coating film formed in step (2) to form a clear coating film; and (4) heating the uncured base coating film, the uncured effect coating film, and the uncured clear coating film formed in steps (1) to (3) to simultaneously cure these three coating films.

Multilayer coating film forming method

Polymer fine particles having a number average particle diameter of 50 to 450 nm and a CV value of particle diameter on a number basis of 5% or less, or polymer fine particles having a structural color development property when arranged. An acid value of the polymer fine particles is 5 to 38 mg KOH/g. An emulsion in which the polymer fine particles are dispersed in a medium mainly containing water. The present invention relates to a photoinduced thermochromic or thermoluminescent composition, comprising: a) nanoparticles capable of absorbing near-infrared (NIR) radiation and converting the NIR radiation into heat, in particular metal gold nanoparticles; b) one or more phase change materials (PCM) selected from the group consisting of: b1) a PCM capable of acting as chromic or fluorochromic promoter; and b2) a PCM uncapable of acting as chromic or fluorochromic promoter; c) one or more dyes selected from the group consisting of: c1) a dye capable of modifying its colour- or emission-properties when the PCM changes between the solid state and the liquid state; and c2) a dye uncapable of modifying its colour- or emission-properties when the PCM between the solid state and the liquid state; and articles containing it. It also relates to processes for their preparation and their uses in therapy, cosmetics, diagnostics, optics and anti-fake technology.
