Tinting water-borne and solvent-borne paints and stains with water-only colorants
A point-of-sale custom color system for tinting base paints and stains includes an array of water-only fluid colorants, including at least white, green, blue and red water-only colorants, which can be used to tint water-borne paints and stains. When tinting solvent-borne base paints or stains, a synergist containing one or more surfactants and optional dispersing agents or optional cosolvents is added to or is a part of the solvent-borne base paint or stains, and enables effective tinting using the water-only colorants.
Hydrophobic pigment modification
The present invention is a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of metal oxide pigment particles coated with a polymer comprising structural units of an alkyltrihydroxysilane or a salt thereof and a dialkyldihydroxysilane or a salt thereof. The composition of the present invention provides hydrophobicity to pigment particles, thereby imparting water resistance, and allows for high loadings of pigment in water without increased viscosity.
WATERBORNE SELF-POLISHING ANTIFOULING PAINT AND PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The present invention provides a waterborne self-polishing antifouling paint and a preparation method and application thereof, and belongs to the technical field of marine antifouling paints. The waterborne self-polishing antifouling paint provided by the present invention includes the following components in parts by weight: 30-60 parts of waterborne self-polishing emulsion, 30-70 parts of waterborne slurry, 0.1-0.5 parts of waterborne leveling agent, 0.2-1 parts of waterborne defoamer, 0.5-1 parts of film-forming additive and 10-20 parts of water. The waterborne self-polishing antifouling paint provided by the present invention has an ultra-low content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (less than 20 g/L), and is environmentally friendly. The waterborne self-polishing antifouling paint can be formed into a paint film with good mechanical properties, stable self-polishing rate, and excellent water immersion resistance and antifouling performance.
CONDENSED POLYCYCLIC ORGANIC PIGMENT COMPOSITION CONTAINING POLYVALENT METAL INORGANIC SALT
A technical problem of the present invention is to provide a condensed polycyclic organic pigment having excellent dispersion properties and dispersion stability. More specifically, the technical problem of the present invention is to provide a condensed polycyclic organic pigment in which a practically sufficient viscosity is achieved in terms of both the initial viscosity of a base ink and the viscosity over time of a base ink when used in the printing ink application. As a result of thorough studies on the surface state of organic pigment particles and interaction among components constituting a printing ink, it has been found that the technical problem can be solved by using a polyvalent metal inorganic salt in a condensed polycyclic organic pigment, thus accomplishing the present invention.
LOW VOC UNIVERSAL COLORANT COMPOSITIONS
A universal colorant composition compatible to tint water-borne and solvent-borne base paints and stains. The universal colorant composition includes one or more modified polyether dispersants with one or more pigment affinic groups, which wet, disperse, and stabilize the disperse included pigments. The universal colorant compositions provide for low viscosity drop and excellent compatibility when the colorant composition is used to tint a base paint or stain.
SILVER POWDER FOR INK OR PAINT
Silver powder includes multiple particles 2 containing silver as a main component. A ratio of the number of particles 2 which are flake-like and each of which has a monocrystalline structure and has a largest plane that is a lattice plane (111), to the total number of particles, is not less than 95%. The silver powder is water-dispersible. In the silver powder, a median size D50 is not less than 0.1 m and not greater than 10 m, a standard deviation of particle sizes is not greater than 5 m, an average thickness Tave is not greater than 300 nm, and an aspect ratio (D50/Tave) is not less than 4.
BRIGHT PIGMENT DISPERSION AND METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an effect pigment dispersion that exhibits excellent water resistance, that can form metallic or pearly luster, and that further exhibits high stability; and to provide a method for forming a multilayer coating film. The present invention provides an effect pigment dispersion that contains water, a wetting agent (A), a flake-effect pigment (B), and a phosphate-group-containing cellulose-based rheology control agent (C). The effect pigment dispersion has a solids content of 0.1 to 10 parts by mass, per 100 parts by mass of all of the components of the effect pigment dispersion; and has a viscosity of 100 to 10000 mPa.Math.sec as measured with a Brookfield viscometer at a rotational speed of 6 revolutions per minute.
