WATER VAPOR STERILIZABLE TRANSPARENT BARRIER LAYERS PREVENTING OXYGEN TRANSMISSION FOR PACKAGING MATERIALS
The present invention relates to a formulation comprising: i) at least one hydrolysate of at least one compound of formula (I) RSi(OX).sub.3 (I) where X, the same or different, is H, C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl or acyl, R=OX, OH, C1-C4 alkyl or alkoxy silyl-substituted ethylene radical, ii) at least one hydrolysate of at least one polyisocyanurate bearing alkoxy silyl alkyl units, iii) at least one polymer bearing hydroxyl groups, and iv) a solvent mixture containing water comprising at least one alcohol with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, wherein the pH value of the formulation lies in a range from 1.8-4.7, preferably from 3-4.5, and the content of the polymer bearing hydroxyl groups ranges from 13 wt. % to 33 wt. % related to the solids content in the formulation. The invention further relates to a method for the production of said formulation, the use thereof in the production of laminate structures and corresponding laminate structures having at least two layers comprising the formulation.
Wire Grid Polarizer with Silane Protective Coating
A wire grid polarizer (WGP) can have a conformal-coating to protect the WGP from at least one of the following: corrosion, dust, and damage due to tensile forces in a liquid on the WGP. The conformal-coating can include a silane conformal-coating with chemical formula (1), chemical formula (2), or combinations thereof:

A method of applying a conformal-coating over a WGP can include exposing the WGP to Si(R.sup.1).sub.a(R.sup.2).sub.e(R.sup.3).sub.g. In the above WGP and method, X can be a bond to the ribs; each R.sup.1 can be a hydrophobic group; each R.sup.3, if any, can be any chemical element or group; d can be 1, 2, or 3, e can be 1, 2, or 3, g can be 0, 1, or 2, and d+e+g=4; R.sup.2 can be a silane-reactive-group; and each R.sup.6 can be an alkyl group, an aryl group, or combinations thereof.

PRIMER-INITIATED CURE OF STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE FILM
Curable adhesive films, primers for adhesion of curable adhesive films, and adhesive systems comprising adhesive films and primers are provided. In some embodiments, an adhesive system comprises: I) a curable adhesive free-standing film comprising a blend of: a) a first film-forming polymer or oligomer; b) a first species comprising first unsaturated free-radically polymerizable groups, which may be a) or a species other than a); and c) a first transition metal cation; and II) a primer for adhesion of a curable adhesive free-standing film to a first substrate comprising an oxidizing agent. In some embodiments, an adhesive system comprises: I) a curable adhesive free-standing film comprising an outer surface bearing embossed air bleed channels capable of aiding in escape of air during application of the outer surface to a primed substrate; and II) a primer comprising components that initiate cure of the curable adhesive free-standing film.

SILANE-BASED FUNCTIONALIZED POLYMER, METHOD OF PREPARING SAME AND POLYMER ELECTROLYTE COMPOSITE MEMBRANE INCLUDING SAME
A novel silane-based functionalized polymer is useful as an organic precursor material for forming inorganic particles that are introduced when manufacturing a polymer electrolyte composite membrane. A polymer electrolyte composite membrane according to an embodiment of the present invention includes at least one of a perfluorinated polymer and a hydrocarbon-based polymer, and a silane-based functionalized polymer represented by Chemical Formula 1.
CHROMATE-FREE CERAMIC COMPOSITIONS WITH REDUCED CURING TEMPERATURE
Hexavalent chromium-free slurries are provided that are capable of achieving a full cure at temperatures as low as 330-450 degrees F., thus making the coatings especially suitable for application on temperature sensitive base materials. The slurries are suitable in the production of protective coating systems formed by novel silicate-based basecoats that are sealed with novel phosphate-based topcoats. The coating systems exhibit acceptable corrosion and heat resistance and are capable of replacing traditional chromate-containing coating systems.

Provided is a silicone resin-coated silicone elastomer particle that is superior in dispersibility into organic resins, in stress relaxation performance, and the like, and that has low dust scattering when mixing and thus is superior in ease of handling. Also provided is an organic resin additive, an organic resin, a coating composition, or a coating agent composition, and applications such as in cosmetic compositions, including the particle. The silicone resin-coated silicone elastomer particle has a structure wherein at least two silicon atoms in a silicone elastomer particle are cross-linked through a silalkylene group with a carbon number between 4 and 20 where some or all of the surface thereof is coated with a silicone resin structured from siloxane units expressed by SiO.sub.4/2.
