AQUEOUS PRIMER COMPOSITION FOR ADHESIVE BONDING AND BONDING METHOD USING THE SAME
A water-based bonding primer composition and a method of applying the same onto a metallic surface prior to adhesive bonding. The bonding primer composition is a water-based dispersion containing water, one or more epoxy resins, at least one curing agent, a silane compound, a low amount of a carbon-based material in particulate form, and optional additives. The carbon-based material is selected from graphene, graphene oxide (GO), graphite, carbon with various structures in micron-scale or nanoscale size, and combination thereof.
WATER-BASED PRIMER COMPOSITION FOR POLYCARBONATE AND POLYCARBONATE BLENDS
A water-based primer composition is particularly suitable for the pre-treatment of polycarbonate substrates, and has a component K1 having an aqueous epoxy resin dispersion, an aqueous polyester-polyurethane dispersion and an aqueous polyacrylate dispersion, and optionally a water-miscible organic solvent, and a second component K2 containing a water-dispersible curing agent based on isocyanate. The primers provide a strong bonding of subsequently applied adhesives to polycarbonate substrates, and permit a processing with a significant reduction in VOC emissions and the prevention of the occurrence of stress-cracks.
Aqueous primer composition for enhanced film formation and method of using the same
A water-based bonding primer composition and a method of applying the same onto a metallic surface prior to adhesive bonding. The bonding primer composition is a water-based dispersion containing water, one or more epoxy resins, one or more curing agents, a silane compound, a low amount of propylene carbonate (PC), and optional additives. The bonding primer composition can form substantially smooth films by spraying, and at the same time, meet environmental regulations and provide high bonding performance.
BONDING OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS
Peel ply for surface preparation and a method of surface preparation prior to adhesive bonding. A resin-rich peel ply is applied onto a curable, resin-based composite substrate, followed by co-curing. After co-curing, the composite substrate is fully cured but the matrix resin in the peel ply remains partially cured. When the peel ply is removed, a roughened, bondable surface with chemically-active functional groups is revealed. The composite substrate with the chemically-active, bondable surface may be bonded to another composite substrate to form a covalently-bonded structure.
Adhesive composition
The present invention provides an adhesive composition excellent in adhesive strength. The adhesive composition of the present invention contains 100 parts by weight of polyalkylene oxide having a hydrolyzable silyl group, 1 to 20 parts by weight of an epoxy resin, 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of an epoxysilane coupling agent, 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of a ketimine compound, and 1 to 100 parts by weight of fatty acid-treated calcium oxide.
PROTECTION MEMBRANE FORMING FILM, PROTECTION MEMBRANE FORMING UTILIZATION SHEET, PRODUCTION METHOD AND INSPECTION METHOD FOR WORKPIECE OR PROCESSED PRODUCT, WORKPIECE DETERMINED AS ADEQUATE PRODUCT, AND PROCESSED PRODUCT DETERMINED AS ADEQUATE PRODUCT
A protection membrane-forming film (1) containing a filler, wherein the average particle size of the filler is not more than 0.4 m, a protection membrane-forming sheet (2), a production method and an inspection method for a workpiece or a processed product which use the film and the sheet, and a workpiece and a processed product determined as adequate products by the inspection method. The protection membrane-forming film and the protection membrane-forming sheet of the invention enable the formation of a protection membrane having excellent print legibility when subjected to print processing by laser irradiation.
PRIMER COMPOSITION AND COMPOSITE ARTICLE
Provided is a primer composition that can cause a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) and an adhesive to sufficiently conform to each other to express a sufficient adhesive strength. The present invention also provides a composite article containing a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) subjected to a primer treatment with such primer composition. The primer composition of the present invention includes: an aromatic compound having a hydroxyl group; and an epoxy. The composite article of the present invention includes a fiber-reinforced plastic, and at least part of a surface of the fiber-reinforced plastic is subjected to a primer treatment with the primer composition of the present invention.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FILLING CONSTRUCTION JOINT SPACES
A method for filling a construction joint space includes applying a primer layer to one or more construction member edges of one or more construction members, and chemically reacting a filler layer with the primer layer to at least partially fill a remainder of the construction joint space with the filler layer. The construction member edge(s) at least partially form the construction joint space. The primer layer can include an epoxy primer. The filler layer can include at least one of a polyurea and a polyurethane. The epoxy primer can be covered with the filler layer. The method can also include the step of applying a filler retainer to a top surface of the construction member to substantially confine the filler layer within the joint space. A system for filling construction joint spaces includes one or more of a primer layer, a filler layer and a filler retainer.
