Described herein a heat transfer label comprising a support portion comprising a release layer having a first side and a second side and a first carrier at least partially disposed on the first side of the release layer; and a transfer portion comprising a engravable first ink layer having a first side and a second side; and an adhesive layer having a first side and a second side, wherein a graphic design is engraved on the first ink layer using the laser light after the heat transfer label is at least partially bonded onto a substrate. Also described herein are methods of laser engraving a heat transfer label comprising at least partially bonding the heat transfer label described herein onto a substrate; and at least partially laser engraving the ink layer.

RELEASE LAYERS AND ARTICLES CONTAINING THEM

Release layers that can be included in various adhesive tape products and release liners for adhesive layers are provided. The release layer is a cured reaction product of a curable release composition that contains i) a siloxane polymer having at least two hydrolyzable groups and having a weight average molecular weight of at least 1000 Daltons, ii) a crosslinker, iii) a silane additive, iv) a photoacid generator, and v) an optional silicate resin. The crosslinker is a compound of formula Si(OR.sup.5).sub.4 or is a compound having at least two silyl groups of formula —Si(R.sup.4)x(OR.sup.5).sub.3-x where R.sup.4 is alkyl or aryl, R.sup.5 is alkyl, and the variable xis an integer equal to 0 or 1. The silane additive is a compound having two silyl groups of formula —Si(R.sup.6).sub.2(OR.sup.7) or a single silyl group of formula —Si(R.sup.10) (OR.sup.9).sub.2 where R.sup.6 is alkyl or aryl, R.sup.7 is alkyl, R.sup.9 is alkyl, and R.sup.10 is alkyl or aryl.

A multilayer release liner for use in a roofing system, that includes a roofing membrane and an asphalt or bitumen adhesive. The multilayer release liner contains a core layer including PET, surrounded by several outer layers including at least two tie layers adhered to the core layer, and at least two polyolefin layers adhered to the tie layers. The multilayer release liner of the present invention is highly compatible with silicone and does not contain any ingredients that may interfere with the adhesion or cure of a silicone coating. The liner of the present invention also provides an effective oil barrier and minimizes oil migration and discoloration of the multilayer release liner from the adhesives used in roofing systems.

Provided is a solventless silicone composition which can form a highly transparent release coating having excellent adhesion to a substrate, in particular to a plastic film substrate, and which can provide a layer of cured product having good adhesion even when the release coating exhibits a small peeling force. Also provided is a release paper and release film having such a cured coating.

The object of the present invention is to provide a silicone composition which provides a release coating having excellent adhesion to a substrate, in particular a plastic film substrate, such as a polyester film. Further, an object of the present invention is to provide a release sheet having a cured coating of the silicon composition. It is also an object of the present invention to provide a silicone composition which has improved storage stability and does not cause separation of the functional compound during long-term storage or transportation. The present invention provides a silicone composition comprising the following components (A) to (C):

(A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups each bonded to a silicon atom in a molecule, having a viscosity at 25 degrees C. in the range of from 50 mPa.Math.s to 10,000 mPa.Math.s, and having no aryl nor aralkyl group bonded to a silicon atom, wherein a percentage of the number of the alkenyl groups relative to the number of groups each bonded to a silicon atom is from 0.01% to less than 4.5%;

(B) a mixture comprising the following components (B1), (B2) and (B3)

(B1) an alpha-olefin which is liquid at 25 degrees C., in an amount of 0.05 to 15 parts by mass, relative to 100 parts by mass of component (A),

(B2) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least three hydrogen atoms each bonded to a silicon atom .in a molecule, and having no aryl nor aralkyl group bonded to a silicon atom, wherein a ratio of the number of the SiH groups present in component (B2) to a total number of the alkenyl groups present in components (A) and (B) is 0.5 to 10;

(B3) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least three hydrogen atoms each bonded to a silicon atom in a molecule, and having an aryl group and/or an aralkyl group each bonded to a silicon atom such that a percentage of the number of the aryl group and the aralkyl group relative to a total number of hydrogen atoms and groups each bonded to a silicon atom is 8% to 50%, wherein the amount of component (B3) is from 0.05 to 10 parts by mass, relative to 100 parts by mass of component (A), and a ratio of the number of the SiH groups present in component (B3) to a total number of the alkenyl groups present in components (A) and (B) is 0.1 to 2; and

(C) a catalytic amount of a platinum group metal catalyst.

A release coating film having excellent releasing properties can be stably and easily imparted to various bases, and the primer layer and the release layer can be formed even by room-temperature (25° C.) application.
