Process reacting organic materials to give hydrogen gas
A method of recovering a hydrogen-enriched gas at least 70 percent by volume hydrogen includes introducing into the feed device to a rotary furnace defining a tubular interior space, starting materials containing carbon or hydrocarbons. A mass of water being added to the starting material is regulated according to the content of hydrogen in the gas mixture leaving the rotary furnace. The tubular interior space of the rotary furnace is expanded axially to accommodate thermally expanding the starting material and water in the interior space of the rotary furnace.
Systems and methods for producing syngas from a solid carbon-containing substance using a reactor having hollow engineered particles
A solids circulation system receives a gas stream containing char or other reacting solids from a first reactor. The solids circulation system includes a cyclone configured to receive the gas stream from the first reactor, a dipleg from the cyclone to a second reactor, and a riser from the second reactor which merges with the gas stream received by the cyclone. The second reactor has a dense fluid bed and converts the received materials to gaseous products. A conveying fluid transports a portion of the bed media from the second reactor through the riser to mix with the gas stream prior to cyclone entry. The bed media helps manipulate the solids that is received by the cyclone to facilitate flow of solids down the dipleg into the second reactor. The second reactor provides additional residence time, mixing and gas-solid contact for efficient conversion of char or reacting solids.
PRODUCTION OF A GAS AND METHODS THEREFOR
Disclosed are methods and systems for producing a gas from a combustible material. In particular, disclosed are methods and systems for batch-type production of a gas from a combustible material. The methods and systems include igniting at least a portion of the combustible material loaded in the sealed containment structure to form a thermally affected layer, wherein the step of feeding the oxidant into the sealed containment structure is carried out so that conversion of the combustible material to a gas at one point in the sequence is initiated prior to complete conversion of the combustible material at a previous point in the sequence.

A gasification system for the oxidation of a carbonaceous feedstock to provide a synthesis gas comprising: a reactor chamber for oxidizing the carbonaceous feedstock; a quench section for holding a bath of liquid coolant; an intermediate section having a reactor outlet opening through which the synthesis gas is conducted from the reactor chamber into the bath of the quench section; at least one layer of refractory bricks arranged on the reactor chamber floor, the lower end section of the refractory bricks enclosing the reactor outlet opening and defining the inner diameter thereof; the intermediate section including a number of halved tubes for liquid coolant arranged onto at least part of the reactor chamber floor on a side thereof opposite to the lower end section of the refractory bricks; and a pump system for circulating the liquid coolant through the halved tubes on the reactor chamber floor.
APPARATUS FOR THE TREATMENT OF GRANULATED LIQUID SLAG IN A HORIZONTAL FURNACE
Improvements to the gasifier furnace design and process method to facilitate continuous production of mainly H.sub.2, CO and granulated solid from molten liquid or the liquid slag in the presence of carbonaceous material. It is a method of quenching molten liquid and cooling post quenched hot granulated solid which is done within a long horizontal reaction chamber space of the furnace in the presence of C and H.sub.2O. A moving layer of continuously gas cooled granulated solid protects the moving floor underneath by substantially reducing the possibility of heat transfer from the horizontal reaction chamber to such moving floor and its parts and preventing direct contact between the post quenched hot solid granulates and such moving floor. Such moving floor having plurality of gas passages and is disposed above a plenum that receives gas from outside source and uniformly distributes the gas to pass through all the gas passages.
GASIFICATION BURNER
The present invention relates to a gasification burner comprising a main burner, N-stage sub-burners arranged on the inner side of the main burner, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 1, the main burner and each stage of the sub-burners have independent fuel channels and oxidant channels respectively, the main burner and each stage of the sub-burners are arranged in a coaxial sleeves from outside to inside; the inner diameter of the main burner is larger than the outer diameter of the first stage of the sub-burners, and the inner diameter of each stage of the sub-burners is larger than the outer diameter of its next stage of the sub-burners; the gasification burner can ensure fuels and oxidants to be mixed fully and evenly in limited reaction space and residence time, accelerate combustion reaction rate, thereby improving fuel conversion rate and gasification performance; meanwhile, it can flexibly adjust flame shape without reducing the load of gasifier furnace by adjusting the load of the main burner and each stage of the sub-burners, thereby effectively avoiding overheating of the gasifier furnace to meet different production load requirements of project sites.
Gasification system and process
A gasification system for the partial oxidation of a carbonaceous feedstock to at least provide a synthesis gas, comprising: a reactor chamber for receiving and partially oxidizing the carbonaceous feedstock; a quench chamber below the floor of the reactor chamber for holding a bath of liquid coolant; an intermediate section at said reactor chamber floor, the intermediate section having a reactor outlet opening through which the reactor chamber communicates with the quench chamber to conduct the synthesis gas from the reactor chamber into the bath of the quench chamber; at least one layer of refractory bricks arranged on and supported by the reactor chamber floor, the lower end section of the refractory bricks enclosing the reactor outlet opening and defining the inner diameter thereof; and a dip tube extending from the reactor outlet opening to the bath of the quench chamber, the dip tube having a widened top section.
Arrangement and method for preparing a gas
The invention relates to an arrangement for preparing a gas in a closable reactor by supplying the reactor with carbon-based biomass or chopped wood material, such as chips, in substantially oxygen-free conditions, by allowing the biomass or wood material to gasify at a high temperature, and by recovering the gas generated in a gasification reaction. In that the arrangement the reactor has its interior defined by a feed pipe whose inlet end is closable with a shut-off valve, especially with a ball valve, and whose outlet end adjoins a heatable gasification dome, biomass or chopped wood material is delivered from the feed pipe's inlet end into the reactor's interior, the reactor's interior is supplied with free water/water vapor in its supercritical state, which is optionally prepared catalytically by splitting water/water vapor, the biomass or wood material is conveyed into a gasification space of the reactor's interior, which is in connection with the heated gasification dome and which is adapted to have existing conditions selected in a manner such that the water present in said gasification space is present in its supercritical state, and the gas generated in the gasification reaction is recovered.
