In one embodiment, a spacer fluid may comprise a base fluid and a surfactant package. The surfactant package may comprise one or more surfactants, where the surfactant package comprises a first surfactant having the chemical structure R(OC.sub.2H.sub.4).sub.xOH. R may be a hydrocarbyl group having from 9 to 20 carbon atom, and x may be an integer from 5 and 15. The first surfactant may have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of from 12 to 13.5.
RETARDED ACID SYSTEMS, EMULSIONS, AND METHODS FOR USING IN ACIDIZING CARBONATE FORMATIONS
In one embodiment, a retarded acid system comprises an aqueous acid and a retarding surfactant. The aqueous acid may comprise from 5 wt. % to 25 wt. % of a strong acid, that is, an acid having a K.sub.a greater than or equal to 0.01. The aqueous acid may further comprise from 75 wt. % to 95 wt. % water. The retarding surfactant may have the general chemical formula R(OC.sub.2H.sub.4).sub.xOH where R is a hydrocarbon having from 11 to 15 carbon atoms and x is an integer from 6 to 10. The retarding surfactant may have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance from 8 to 16.
Naphthyl phenyl ether compound and lubricant composition containing same
One aspect of the present invention relates to a naphthyl phenyl ether compound represented by formula (1): ##STR00001##
in the formula (1), R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and each represent a linear or branched hydrocarbon group having 6 to 28 carbon atoms; m and n are each a real number of 0 or more and satisfy 1.0m+n3.0.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITION AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
Provided are a lubricant composition in which low friction and low abrasion are compatible in various temperatures and loads, and a manufacturing method of a lubricant composition. A lubricant composition of the present invention contains at least trivalent or more polyol a1; a mixture b1 of at least one of a polymerization reaction mixture of an unsaturated fatty acid having 18 to 22 carbon atoms which contains at least 75 mass % of a divalent carboxylic acid having 36 to 44 carbon atoms or a mixture obtained by performing hydrogenation with respect to the polymerization reaction mixture; and composite ester A containing polyester in which monool c1 represented by General Formula (1) described below is condensed, in which a feed ratio of the number of moles of a hydroxyl group of a1/the number of moles of a carboxylic acid of b1/the number of moles of a hydroxyl group of c1 is 1/1.5 to 2.0/0.7 to 1.5, and a content of the composite ester A is 0.1 to 5 mass % with respect to the total mass of the lubricant composition.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine includes: (A) a lubricating base oil including at least one mineral oil-based base oil and having a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of from 2.0 mm.sup.2/s or more and 4.3 mm.sup.2/s or less, and (B) a calcium borate-containing metallic detergent in an mount of 500 mass ppm or more and less than 1500 mass ppm in terms of calcium, based on a total amount of the composition. The composition has an evaporation loss by NOACK method (250 C., 1 h) of from 10 mass % or more and 40 mass % or less, and the composition has a viscosity index of from 140 or more and 350 or less. The lubricating oil composition is provided, wherein even in the case of using a highly evaporative base oil to make the viscosity low, the friction characteristic of the lubricating oil composition can be kept low.
HIGH TEMPERATURE LUBRICANTS FOR MAGNETIC MEDIA HAVING MORE THERMALLY STABLE END GROUPS
High temperature lubricants for magnetic media are provided. One such lubricant includes an end group having a constituent with a higher rotational energy barrier than CH.sub.2. The constituent with the higher rotational energy barrier can be benzene or anisole. The lubricants can be used in conjunction with a magnetic recording medium and/or a magnetic data storage system. The end group is not restricted to a dihydroxy propyl configuration. The anchoring groups can be farther away from the group having a higher rotational energy barrier than CH.sub.2, for example:
