Use of amines and/or Mannich adducts in fuel and lubricant compositions for direct-injection spark ignition engines

The present invention relates to the use of amines and/or Mannich adducts as detergents and/or dispersants in fuel and lubricant compositions for direct-injection gasoline engines. The invention further relates to fuel and lubricant compositions which comprise at least one such Mannich adduct, and also a bisaminoalkylated Mannich adduct.

COMPOSITION FOR HEAT CYCLE SYSTEM AND HEAT CYCLE SYSTEM

There are provided a composition for a heat cycle system containing a working medium for heat cycle that has a low global warming potential and high stability, which can be used as a substitute for HFC-134a and HFC-245fa, and a heat cycle system using this composition. The composition for a heat cycle system contains: a working medium for heat cycle containing 1-chloro-2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene; and a stabilizer suppressing deterioration of the working medium for heat cycle such as an oxidation resistance improver, a heat resistance improver, or a metal deactivator, and the heat cycle system uses this composition for a heat cycle system.

Ashless or reduced ash quaternary detergents

A composition of an oil-soluble ionic detergent that does not contribute metal ions to the composition, and which comprises a quaternary non-metallic pnictogen cation and an organic anion having at least one hydrocarbyl group of sufficient length to impart oil solubility to the detergent, the detergent having a total base number (TBN) to total acid number (TAN) ratio of at least 2:1 imparts ash-free basicity to a lubricant composition.

Refractory binder system

A refractory formulation containing an anhydrous solvent, an oleophilic rheology modifier and a refractory aggregate exhibits non-thermoplastic behavior, and remains plastic and formable at temperatures in the range of 10 degrees Celsius to 180 degrees Celsius. The oleophilic rheology modifier may effectively bind with the solvent to create a gel-like structure with organic solvents with moderate to high polarity. A phyllosilicate clay that has been treated with a quaternary fatty acid amine may be used as the oleophilic rheology modifier.

Pyran dispersants

The disclosed technology relates to ashless compounds exhibiting neutral pH and having sufficient polarity to act as a dispersant. The disclosed technology additionally relates to the use of the ashless compounds in engine lubricants as dispersants for preventing engine deposit without degrading seals or increasing (i.e. contributing to) corrosion.

The engine lubricating system can become contaminated with carbon deposits and sludge. Sludge is where the combustion by-products that have entered the oil base saturate this oil base, thus forming a thick carbon rich substance. Sludge is not wanted within the engine. Sludge and or carbon deposits in the motor oil cause problems. Such carbon deposits form in the motor oil from heat, pressure, and namely combustion gases that have leaked pasted the piston rings. Turpentine and terpenes, hereafter referred to as terpenes, have shown that these chemicals can breakdown carbon which has been deposited within the engine's oil base.
