BASE STOCKS AND LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING SAME
Systems and methods are provided for block operation during lubricant and/or fuels production from deasphalted oil. During block operation, a deasphalted oil and/or the hydroprocessed effluent from an initial processing stage can be split into a plurality of fractions. The fractions can correspond, for example, to feed fractions suitable for forming a light neutral fraction, a heavy neutral fraction, and a bright stock fraction, or the plurality of fractions can correspond to any other convenient split into separate fractions. The plurality of separate fractions can then be processed separately in the process train (or in the sweet portion of the process train) for forming fuels and/or lubricant base stocks. This can allow for formation of unexpected base stock compositions.
Method of manufacturing calcium sulfonate greases using delayed addition of non-aqueous converting agents
A method of manufacturing an overbased calcium sulfonate grease comprising a reduced amount of overbased calcium sulfonate, water and at least one non-aqueous converting agent, where at least a portion of the non-aqueous converting agent is added after one or more delay periods relative to the addition of the water. A delay period may involve the period of time it takes to adjust the temperature of the mixture, a period of time during which the mixture is held at a temperature or within a range of temperatures, and multiples and any combination thereof. These calcium sulfonate greases have improved thickener yield and high dropping points compared to greases of substantially similar composition made without a delay between the additions of water and a non-aqueous converting agent, particularly when a poor quality overbased calcium sulfonate is used.
ASHLESS OR REDUCED ASH QUATERNARY DETERGENTS
A composition of an oil-soluble ionic detergent that does not contribute metal ions to the composition, and which comprises a quaternary non-metallic pnictogen cation and an organic anion having at least one hydrocarbyl group of sufficient length to impart oil solubility to the detergent, the detergent having a total base number (TBN) to total acid number (TAN) ratio of at least 2:1 imparts ash-free basicity to a lubricant composition.
CONVEYOR LUBRICANTS INCLUDING EMULSIONS AND METHODS EMPLOYING THEM
The present disclosure relates to conveyor lubricant compositions including an emulsion. The present disclosure also relates to methods of employing such lubricant compositions. In an embodiment, the methods include applying the present lubricant composition to a conveyor with a non-energized nozzle. In an embodiment, the methods include applying the present lubricant composition in a semi-dry mode.
ADDITIVE FOR LUBRICATING OIL, AND LUBIRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Object
There found a demand for ashless type novel lubricant which does not contain phosphorus, sulfur or metals and has high friction reducing effect, and suppresses the generation of deposit/sludge and the like, and furthermore can exhibit a detergency effect. It is an object to provide a novel lubricant capable of responding to this demand.
In addition, it was found out that it is required to demonstrate performances such as friction reduction effect and detergent effect under various low temperature and high temperature environments. In the present invention, it is also an object to provide a novel lubricant which can exhibit excellent performance even under various low temperature and high temperature environments even at the higher dosage.
Solution
A lubricating oil/grease additive characterized by containing a polyetheramine carboxylic acid salt represented by the general formula (1).
[R.sub.1COO.sup.][R.sub.2O(AO)m-X.sup.+](1)
Here, the carboxylic acid is a carboxylic acid having carbon number R.sub.1=7-21, preferably carboxylic acid having carbon number R.sub.1=7-19, more preferably oleic acid R.sub.1=C17.
R.sub.2 is a hydrocarbon group of carbon number from 8 to 50, A is an alkyl group of carbon number from 2 to 6, O is oxygen, m is an integer of 10 to 50, and X is an amino group or a substituted amino group.

Induced Formation of Solid Lubricant
A method and a device for induced formation of solid lubricant comprises providing (S10) of an article (10) to be processed. The article is exposed (S20) to a process fluid (34) comprising a solvent. impact media (20) and additives of solid-lubricant precursor substances. The solvent is a low-volatile high-flash solvent. The impact media are non-abrasive hard particles. The additives of solid-lubricant precursor substances are surface-reactive compounds serving as carriers of at least one of S, P, B and of at least one refractory metal. A velocity difference between surfaces (12) of the article and the impact media is created (S30). This causes impacts between the impact media and the article. Solid lubricant substances are formed (S40) on the surfaces by chemical reactions. The chemical reactions comprise the solid-lubricant precursor substances and are induced by the energy of the impacts. The chemical reactions take place at the surfaces
