COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING ESTOLIDE COMPOUNDS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Provided herein are compositions comprising at least one estolide compound of formula:
##STR00001##
in which n is an integer equal to or greater than 0; m is an integer equal to or greater than 1; R.sub.1, independently for each occurrence, is selected from optionally substituted alkyl that is saturated or unsaturated, and branched or unbranched; R.sub.2 is selected from hydrogen and optionally substituted alkyl that is saturated or unsaturated, and branched or unbranched; and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, independently for each occurrence, are selected from optionally substituted alkyl that is saturated or unsaturated, and branched or unbranched. Also provided are uses of the compositions described herein.
Metalworking Fluid
A metalworking fluid is disclosed. The fluid comprises an oleaginous component, an aqueous component, and a surfactant dispersed in the aqueous component. The fluid comprises micelles of the oleaginous and the aqueous component. The average micelle diameter follows a Gaussian distribution having a mean , and wherein the standard deviation a is less than or equal to 0.2.
TRACTION FLUID COMPOSITION
raction fluid additive combination that is usable with any traction fluids base stock is provided. To optimize the traction, low temperature viscosity and shear stability performance, a combination of a polyisobutene and a polymethacrylate may be added to a base oil to obtain a traction fluid with good low temperature viscosity without degrading the shear strength properties of the fluid. To minimize foaming of the traction fluid, a combination of one, two, or more anti-foaming agents may be added to the fluid in addition to a standard additive package.
Ashless or reduced ash quaternary detergents
A composition of an oil-soluble ionic detergent that does not contribute metal ions to the composition, and which comprises a quaternary non-metallic pnictogen cation and an organic anion having at least one hydrocarbyl group of sufficient length to impart oil solubility to the detergent, the detergent having a total base number (TBN) to total acid number (TAN) ratio of at least 2:1 imparts ash-free basicity to a lubricant composition.
LUBRICATING OILS FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
The present invention generally relates to lubricating oil compositions useful for automatic transmissions, and particularly transmission oils for automotive automatic transmissions and/or continuously variable transmissions using wet clutch systems, in particular wet paper clutch containing a small amount of cellulose fiber and/or aramid fiber.
COMPOSITION FOR AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE
The use of a lubricant composition in order to cool and/or lubricate the engine of an electric vehicle and the different parts thereof, particularly moving parts, is disclosed. In particular, the use of a lubricant composition includes at least one polyalkylene glycol.
Lubricant compositions containing controlled release additives
A lubricating oil including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component; and a mixture of (i) one or more protected lubricating oil additives having a first performance function, and (ii) one or more unprotected lubricating oil additives having a second performance function, as a minor component. The first performance function and the second performance function are the same. The one or more protected lubricating oil additives are inactive with respect to their performance function. The one or more protected lubricating oil additives are converted into one or more unprotected lubricating oil additives in the lubricating oil in-service in an engine or other mechanical component. A method for controlled release of one or more lubricating oil additives into a lubricating oil. A method for improving oxidative stability of a lubricating oil and extending performance life of one or more lubricating oil additives.
Lubricant compositions containing controlled release additives
A lubricating oil including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one protected active group, as a minor component. The one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one protected active group are converted into one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one unprotected active group in the lubricating oil in-service in an engine or other mechanical component. Compositions including one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one protected active group. A method for improving solubility of one or more lubricating oil additives in a lubricating oil. A method for improving oxidative stability of a lubricating oil and extending performance life of one or more lubricating oil additives. A method for improving friction control in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil.
Industrial Fluid
An industrial fluid is disclosed. The fluid comprises an oleaginous component, an aqueous component, and a surfactant. Substantially all of the surfactant is bound within micelles of the oleaginous component. This results in there being substantially no unbound surfactant present in the fluid. The industrial fluid is also substantially flee from insoluble defoamers or anti-foam compounds.
Industrial Fluid
An industrial fluid is disclosed. The fluid comprises an oleaginous component, an aqueous component, and a surfactant dispersed in the aqueous component. The average micelle diameter follows a Gaussian distribution having a mean, , and wherein the standard deviation is less than or equal to 0.2. The industrial fluid is also substantially free from defoamers or anti-foam compounds.
