Fluorinated polyacrylates antifoams in ultra-low viscosity (<5 CST) finished fluids
There is disclosed an antifoam component for a mechanical device which includes a poly(acrylate) copolymer. The antifoam component has improved foam performance in finished fluids utilizing dibutyl hydrogen phosphite compounds, such as driveline fluids. A lubricating composition comprising a) at least one oil of lubricating viscosity; and b) an antifoam component comprising a poly(acrylate) copolymer. The poly(acrylate) copolymer, b) may include (i) from about 30 wt % up to about 99 wt % of a (meth)acrylate monomer having C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid; and (ii) from about 1 wt % up to about 70 wt % of a fluorinated (meth)acrylate monomer.
Fluorine-containing ether compound, lubricant for magnetic recording medium, and magnetic recording medium
The fluorine-containing ether compound is represented by the following formula (1): R.sup.1—R.sup.2—CH.sub.2—R.sup.3—CH.sub.2—R.sup.4. In the formula (1), R.sup.1 is represented by the following formula (2), R.sup.2 is represented by the following formula (3), R.sup.3 is a perfluoropolyether chain, and R.sup.4 is an organic end group different from R.sup.1—R.sup.2— and contains two or three polar groups, wherein each polar group is bonded to a different carbon atom, and the carbon atoms to which the polar groups are bonded are bonded to one another via a linking group containing a carbon atom to which the polar group is not bonded. Mechanochemical Based Synthesis of Perfluoropyridine Monomers for Polymerization
The present invention relates to a mechanochemical based synthesis of perfluoropyridine monomers, polymers made using such monomers and methods of making and using articles comprising such polymers. Such perfluoropyridine monomers are easily chemically tuned have the strength needed for high temperature applications and the flexibility needed for low temperature applications. In addition, to the aforementioned monomers, a mechanochemical based synthesis for such perfluoropyridine monomers is provided. All of the aforementioned performance application advantages are also found in polymers comprising Applicants' perfluoropyridine monomers.

Provided is a fluorine-containing ether compound capable of forming a lubricant layer having excellent wear resistance even when the thickness is thin, and suitable as a material of a lubricant for a magnetic recording medium. The invention provides a grease composition for lubrication of a sliding surface made of resin, including a fluorine-based base oil and a synthetic hydrocarbon oil as a base oil; a fluorine-based thickener, and a lithium soap thickener or a lithium complex soap thickener as a thickener; and an extreme pressure additive as an additive. The invention also provides a sliding member including a sliding surface made of a resin wherein the grease composition for lubrication is applied to the sliding surface made of a resin.
