Grease composition and grease-filled wheel bearing
Provided is a grease composition for a wheel bearing, containing (a) a base oil consisting of a mineral oil and a synthetic hydrocarbon oil, wherein the ratio of the synthetic hydrocarbon oil to the total amount of the mineral oil and the synthetic hydrocarbon oil is 40 to 60 mass %, and the base oil has a kinematic viscosity at 40 C. of 40 to 65 mm.sup.2/s; (b) a thickener of formula (A) wherein R.sup.2 is diphenylmethane, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.3, which may be the same or different from each other, each represent cyclohexyl group or a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 16 to 20 carbon atoms, with a molar ratio of the cyclohexyl group to the total number of moles of the cyclohexyl group and the alkyl group being 50 to 90 mol %; (c) an amine type antioxidant; and (d) an amine phosphate type antiwear agent. ##STR00001##
Stabilization of isothiazolones in aqueous compositions
An aqueous composition comprising: (a) at least one 3-isothiazolone; and (b) at least one tertiary amine having three C.sub.2-C.sub.6 hydroxyalkyl groups, wherein at least one of the hydroxyalkyl groups has a secondary hydroxyl group.
Lubricant Compositions For Direct Injection Engines
The invention is directed to a method for reducing low speed pre-ignition events in a spark-ignited direct injection internal combustion engine by supplying to the sump a lubricant composition which contains an oil of lubricating viscosity and a metal overbased detergent. The metal overbased detergent may be selected from sulfonate detergents, phenate detergents, and salicylate detergents, especially sulfonate detergents with a metal ratio of at least 5.
COMPOSITION AND METHODS AND USES RELATING THERETO
A quaternary ammonium salt of formula (I): (I) where in X is a linking group; Y is O, NH or NR.sup.1 wherein R.sup.1is H or an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl group; Q.sup. is a moiety that includes a quaternary ammoniumcation; A.sup. is an anion; R.sup.2 is an optionally substituted alkylene group; R.sup.3 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl group; and n is 0 or a positive integer; provided that n is not 0 when R.sup.3 is hydrogen.

Lubricant composition containing an antiwear agent
The invention provides a lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a (thio)phosphoric acid salt of an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted gamma- (-) or delta- (-)amino(thio)ester. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.
FORMULATION APPROACH TO EXTEND THE HIGH TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE OF LITHIUM COMPLEX GREASES
The present disclosure provides a lithium complex grease with high-temperature resistivity and a method of using the same. The lithium complex grease includes: a lithium complex thickener, a friction modifier, a polymer or copolymer, and at least one synthetic base oil with alkylated naphthalene. The lithium complex grease can be substantially free of polytetrafluoroethylene. Furthermore, the lithium complex grease provides a median failure rate via a ball bearing test (e.g., using the FE9 grease life test method of DIN 51 821) performed at 160 C. of no less than 100 hours.

Friction and wear reduction additives
The present invention relates to additives for reducing friction and wear in lubricants. In particular, the present invention relates to novel salts and their use in lubricating oil compositions for reducing friction and wear. In particular, the present invention relates to one or more ionic liquids, wherein the one or more ionic liquids comprise one or more cations and one or more Group 6 metal mononuclear metallate anions.
Lubricating compositions comprising an anti-wear/friction modifying agent
A phosphate complex of a borate ester provides wear- and friction-reducing performance to an engine or driveline device. The complex may be a pyroborate-hydrocarbyl-substituted phosphate adduct. Boric acid may be reacted with a diol to form an ester, then reacting said ester with an ammonium salt of phosphoric acid or a hydrocarbyl-substituted phosphoric acid.
