The lubricating oil composition of the present invention has excellent detergency, fuel saving properties, and LSPI-preventing properties.
TBN and Performance Booster
A lubricating oil composition including greater than 50% by weight of a base oil, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition and an additive for boosting the TBN of the lubricating oil without increasing the sulphated ash content. Also disclosed is a method for boosting the TBN of the lubricating oil composition as measured by both ASTM D-2896 and ASTM D-4739 without increasing the sulphated ash content by adding a TBN booster. The TBN booster can also be employed to improve results for the lubricating oil composition in a ball rust test and certain of the TBN boosters exhibit outstanding seal compatibility.
MARINE DIESEL LUBRICATING COMPOSITION

LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING CONTROLLED RELEASE ADDITIVES
A lubricating oil including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one protected active group, as a minor component. The one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one protected active group are converted into one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one unprotected active group in the lubricating oil in-service in an engine or other mechanical component. Compositions including one or more lubricating oil additives having at least one protected active group. A method for improving solubility of one or more lubricating oil additives in a lubricating oil. A method for improving oxidative stability of a lubricating oil and extending performance life of one or more lubricating oil additives. A method for improving friction control in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil.
GREASE COMPOSITIONS
The invention relates to a grease composition having a base oil and a thickener that includes hydrophilic metal oxide particles and one or more esters which contain one or more unsaturated C—C bonds and/or at least one OH group. The hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a BET specific surface area of at least 10 m.sup.2/g and at least 80% of the hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 900 μm. The amount of the thickener is in the range of from 0.1-40% by weight, based on the total weight of the grease composition. The invention further relates to methods for manufacturing the grease compositions, and the use of the grease compositions for lubricating bearings, gears and couplings.
