Metal nanoparticles as lubricant additives
A lubricant composition comprising: (i) silver or gold nanoparticles, each of which is encapsulated by a layer of alkylthiol or alkylamine molecules; (ii) palladium or platinum nanoparticles, each of which is encapsulated by a layer of alkylthiol or alkylamine molecules; and (iii) a fluid in which components (i) and (ii) are present. Further described are methods for applying the lubricant composition onto a mechanical device for which lubrication is beneficial, with resulting improvement in friction and wear reduction and/or corrosion inhibition.
Silicone Composition and Curable Grease
A silicone composition having an electromagnetic wave absorbing property and thermal conductivity includes liquid silicone; a high-specific-gravity soft magnetic filler having a specific gravity of 4.5 or greater; an intermediate-specific-gravity thermally conductive filler having a specific gravity of 4.0 or less; and a non-liquid anti-thickening and anti-settling agent. Furthermore, a curable grease is a two-component curable grease including a combination of a base compound and a curing agent that are used by being mixed together when used, the curable grease being to be cured by mixing of the base compound with the curing agent. The base compound is a silicone composition of the present invention, in which the liquid silicone is an organopolysiloxane having a vinyl group at an end thereof. The curing agent is a silicone composition of the present invention, in which the liquid silicone is an organohydrogenpolysiloxane.
PTFE POLYMER-BASED SLIDING MATERIAL HAVING FILLERS WHICH IMPROVE THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
The invention relates to a PTFE polymer-based sliding material having fillers which improve the tribological properties, wherein the fillers comprise at least one phosphate, in particular calcium phosphate, calcium pyrophosphate, magnesium phosphate, magnesium pyrophosphate, lithium phosphate, hydroxyapatite or combinations thereof, and at least one metal sulfide, wherein the fraction of the metal sulfide is >2% by volume. The invention also relates to uses of said sliding material.
Lubricant composition and rolling bearing having same sealed therein
The rolling bearing of the present invention is lubricated with a lubricant composition which contains a fatty acid metal salt, a metal dithiocarbamate, a phosphorous-type additive, and a basic additive, and which has a total acid value of 3.7 mgKOH/g or more. The rolling bearing makes it possible to further improve anti-fretting performance, and to reduce a decrease in fretting resistance even when used under the circumstance that fluorine-type grease penetrates into the bearing using urea-type grease.

Electrorheological fluid
The present invention provides an electrorheological fluid, which includes a dielectric particle, a conductor particle and insulating oil, and the dielectric particle is evenly dispersed in the insulating oil; wherein the conductor particle is evenly dispersed in the insulating oil or inlaid in an interior and on a surface of the dielectric particle. The electrorheological fluid has the advantages of high shear stress, long service life, good temperature stability and small leakage current.
Method for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition in direct injected spark-ignited engines with cobalt-containing lubricant
Disclosed is a method for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition in an engine lubricated with a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition comprising at least one oil soluble or oil dispersible cobalt-containing compound.
Lubricant for use in electric and hybrid vehicles and methods of using the same
A lubricant formulation for an electric or hybrid vehicle includes a base oil, or a blend thereof, one or more additives, and a molybdenum amine complex, such as diisotridecylamine molybdate, are provided. Lubricant formulations can be characterized by one of: improving electric motor protection when a volatage is applied to an electrode in the presence of a formulation comprising the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive as compared to a fluid lacking the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive; maintaining the electrical resistance slope of a formulation comprising the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive as compared to a fluid lacking the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive; the formulation forming a protective film on copper surfaces; a change in color of the formulation indicating contact load, temperature, time, or viscosity change.
