ALKYLATED AROMATIC COMPOUNDS FOR HIGH VISCOSITY APPLICATIONS

The present disclosure generally relates to alkylated aromatic compounds useful as basestocks and additives for high viscosity applications. In an embodiment is provided an alkylated aromatic compound. In another embodiment is provided a lubricant formulation that includes an alkylated aromatic compound. In another embodiment is provided a lubricant formulation that includes an alkylated aromatic compound, an additive, and optionally, a Group III basestock, Group IV basestock, Group V basestock, or a combination thereof, the Group V basestock being different than the alkylated aromatic compound. In another embodiment is provided a method of forming a lubricant formulation that includes introducing a mPAO, an aromatic compound, and an acid catalyst to a reactor under reactor conditions to form an alkylated aromatic compound; and introducing the alkylated aromatic compound to an additive to form a lubricant formulation.

A refrigeration machine oil composition may have good lubricating properties and sufficiently reduce friction even when a base oil containing a low-viscosity mineral oil is used and/or prevent seizure between sliding members. Such refrigeration machine oil compositions may contain a base oil containing a mineral oil, (A) at least one type selected from a specific neutral phosphate ester and an amine salt thereof, and (B) at least one type selected from a specific acidic phosphate ester, an acidic phosphite ester, and an amine salt thereof, and having a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. in a range of from 1.0 to 6.0 mm.sup.2/s.

Associative and exchangeable oligomers, and composition containing same

A composition is obtained by mixing at least one oligomer A1, which is obtained by copolymerizing at least two monomers functionalized by diol functions with at least one second monomer, with at least one compound A2 having at least two boron ester functions. The compositions exhibit very varied rheological properties depending on the proportion of the compounds A1 and A2 used. A composition is also obtained by mixing at least one lubricating oil with such a composition of associative and exchangeable polymers, and the use of this composition to lubricate a mechanical part.

The phosphorus-containing salt additive described herein can be used as an anti-wear agent in lubricating composition for diesel engines.

The diluent comprises a silicon-containing compound and a content of the at least one diluent in the preparation amounts to more than 45 percent by weight and less than 95 percent by weight in the preparation.

Engine oil lubricant compositions and methods for making same with superior engine wear protection and corrosion protection

Provided is an engine oil lubricant composition with improved fuel efficiency and engine wear protection. The lubricant composition may include a major amount of an oil basestock from any one or more Group I, Group II, Group III, Group IV or Group V base oils. The resulting engine oil lubricant composition may have a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 6 cSt or less, and a corrosion protection of at least 90, as measured according the ASTM D6557 Ball Rust Test. The resulting engine oil lubricant composition may also have a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 6 cSt or less, an HTHS (ASTM D4683) of less than or equal to 2.2 cP at 150° C. and a FZG failure load stage of at least 6, as measured by the FZG A10/16.6R/130 test procedure.
