Lubricating oil composition
A lubricating oil composition which can reduce the occurrence frequency of LSPI and which can ensure detergency. The lubricating oil composition which includes a lubricant base oil, a compound having calcium and/or magnesium, a compound having molybdenum and/or phosphorus, and an ashless dispersant having nitrogen and which satisfies X0.85 and Y0.18 (wherein X is calculated according to formula (1): X=([Ca]+0.5[Mg])8[Mo]8[P]30 and Y is calculated according to formula (2): Y=[Ca]+1.65[Mg]+[N]). The lubricating oil composition for use in an internal combustion engine, more particularly, a lubricating oil composition for use in a supercharged gasoline engine.
POLYOLEFIN-DERIVED DISPERSANTS
Ethylene-C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha olefin copolymers, dispersants and lubricating oils/fuel compositions incorporating dispersants, and related methods are generally described herein. The copolymer may comprise ethylene-derived units and C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units. The C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may have a carbon number from three to ten. For example, the C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may be propylene-derived units. The dispersants may be made from copolymers having low metal and/or fluorine contents.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Provided is a lubricating oil composition for use in internal-combustion engines, containing a base oil (A), an ashless dispersant (B) containing a non-boronated alkenylsuccinic acid imide (B1) and a boronated alkenylsuccinic acid imide (B2), a thiadiazole compound (C), and an aromatic carboxylate (D) having one or more hydroxy groups, wherein the content of the component (C) is 0.2 to 1.2% by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, the content of a zinc dithiophosphate is, as calculated in terms of zinc atoms, less than 500 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, and the content of a metal-based detergent is, as calculated in terms of metal atoms, less than 600 ppm by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
Disclosed herein is a process for lubricating an internal combustion engine with a lubricant composition that may be substantially ash free. The ashless lubricant composition described herein may comprise primary antioxidants, such as aminic diphenyl amines, alkylated phenyl-naphthyl amines, and phenolic antioxidants. The ashless lubricant composition described herein may also comprise sulfur containing products that may work as secondary antioxidants. Other components such as ashless antiwear components, dispersants, pour point depressants, friction modifiers, and metal deactivators may also be used to formulate an ashless lubricant composition according to an embodiment.
Lubricant with High Pyrophosphate Level
A lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 to 5 percent by weight of a substantially sulfur-free alkyl phosphate amine salt, where at least 30 mole percent of the phosphorus atoms are in an alkyl pyrophosphate salt structure, exhibits good antiwear performance. In the phosphate amine salt, at least 25 mole percent of the alkyl groups are primary alkyl groups of 3 to 12 carbon atoms.
Motor Oil Blend and Method for Reducing Wear on Steel and Eliminating ZDDP in Motor Oils by Modifying the Plastic Response of Steel
An environmentally-improved motor oil blend and related methods for properly lubricating components of an engine and favorably modifying a plastic response of components of the engine, the blend being free of zinc di-alkyl-di-thiophosphates (ZDDP) and free of zinc di-thiophosphate (ZDTP), comprising: a motor oil selected from the motor oil group consisting of Group I, Group II, Group III, Group IV, and Group V motor oils; a motor oil additive comprising alpha-olefins and hydroisomerized hydro-treated severe hydrocracked base oil; ZDDP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil; and ZDTP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS FOR DIRECT INJECTION ENGINE
The invention is directed to a method for reducing low speed pre-ignition events in a spark-ignited direct injection internal combustion engine by supplying to the sump a lubricant composition which contains an oil of lubricating viscosity and an ashless dispersant. The ashless dispersant may be selected from succinimide compounds prepared from aliphatic or aromatic amines.

Dry lubricant for conveying containers
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.
Lubricant Composition
A lubricant composition is prepared having a base oil composition and an additive composition comprising a molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate and an organic friction modifier such as an oil-soluble mono-, di- or tri-glyceride of at least one hydroxyl polycarboxylic acid, or a derivative thereof may, especially when used in combination with a base oil composition of a functionally modified poly-alpha-olefin (e.g. alpha-olefin and ester copolymer), a poly-alpha-olefin and optionally an additive carrier such as an alkylated naphthalene. The lubricant composition of the present invention finds particular application as a lubricant composition for robotics and robotic gearboxes, industrial gears and wind turbine gears and especially for gearboxes having a rolling element (such as a spherical bearing or a cylindrical bearing). It provides enhanced longevity, good elastomer compatibility and good anti-wear properties. Embodiments of the invention also demonstrate excellent protection against leaks and sludge.
