Lubricant compositions for direct injection engine
The invention is directed to a method for reducing low speed pre-ignition events in a spark-ignited direct injection internal combustion engine by supplying to the sump a lubricant composition which contains an oil of lubricating viscosity and an ashless dispersant. The ashless dispersant may be selected from succinimide compounds prepared from aliphatic or aromatic amines.
Sliding member
One aspect of the disclosure relates to a sliding member. The sliding member includes: a first sliding portion having a first lubricant placed between first parts of a first friction sliding mechanism; a second sliding portion having a second lubricant placed between second parts of a second friction sliding mechanism; and a third sliding portion having a third lubricant placed between third parts of a third friction sliding mechanism. The first sliding portion is in contact with the third lubricant, and the second sliding portion is not in contact with the third lubricant. The second lubricant contains an additive containing conductive carbon, and the third lubricant contains no conductive carbon. The second lubricant contains a relatively larger amount of the conductive carbon than the first lubricant.

A lubricating oil composition containing a base oil (A), a comb-shaped polymer (B), and an olefin-based copolymer (C), wherein a content of the component (B) is more than 0.80 mass % based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, a weight average molecular weight of the component (C) is 500,000 or more, and the lubricating oil composition has a viscosity index of 200 or more and a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 9.3 to 11.0 mm.sup.2/s.
Hydrocarbon fluids and uses thereof
A hydrocarbon fluid is disclosed that has a pour point of at most −30° C., as measured by ASTM D5950, and that comprises at least 99 wt % of naphthenes and paraffins, based on the total weight of the hydrocarbon fluid, wherein the weight ratio of naphthenes to paraffins is at least 1, as measured by GC-MS, and wherein the paraffins consist essentially of isoparaffins, as determined by GC-FID. In addition, preferred uses of said hydrocarbon fluid are disclosed.
Alkylphenol detergents
The disclosed technology provides alkylphenol-containing detergent having at least one unit (a) of an alkyl-substituted phenol wherein the alkyl group is derived from oligomers of an olefin compound containing 3 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein the polyolefin-derived alkyl group comprises at least 30 mol percent of an olefin with 4 or more carbon atoms. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.
HYDROCARBON COMPOSITIONS USEFUL AS LUBRICANTS FOR IMPROVED OXIDATION STABILITY
Provided herein are hydrocarbon compositions suitable for use as a lubricant comprising sulfur between about 30 ppm to about 220 ppm, and aromatics between about 0.2 wt. % to about 3 wt. %. The present hydrocarbon compositions comprise a blend of one or more base stocks and a high-sulfur containing material and can demonstrate an improved oxidation performance as a lubricant in weighted piston deposit merits and/or by viscosity increase.
