Low temperature cured silicone lubricious coatings
Novel, lubricious coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability and are readily applied in coating processes a low temperatures that do not deform the device. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.
Method for sterilizing a substrate having a hydrophilic coating and sterilized substrates
Methods for sterilizing a substrate with radiation and radiation sterilized substrates.
LUBRICIOUS COATINGS WITH SURFACE SALT GROUPS
Embodiments herein include coated medical devices and coatings with salt groups. In an embodiment, a coated medical device is included, the coated medical device including a substrate and a polymeric layer disposed over the substrate. The polymeric layer includes a polymer and has an exterior surface. The coated medical device further includes a plurality of salt groups bonded to the polymer of the polymeric layer and disposed on the exterior surface of the polymeric layer. The salt groups can be the reaction product of a reactive group with an acid or base. In an embodiment, a method of making a medical device is included. Other embodiments are also included herein.
SLIPPERINESS-IMPARTING AGENT AND SLIPPERINESS-IMPARTING METHOD
Provided is a lubricity-imparting agent that can impart durable lubricity (in particular, lubricity at the time of wetting) to a substrate. It has been found that a lubricity-imparting agent including a copolymer containing a constitutional unit (A) based on 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine and a constitutional unit (B) based on a photoreactive functional group-containing monomer, or a copolymer containing a constitutional unit (A) based on 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine, a constitutional unit (B) based on a photoreactive functional group-containing monomer, and a constitutional unit (C) based on a hydrophobic group-containing monomer can impart durable lubricity to a substrate surface through a simple approach called photoirradiation.
COATING AGENT AND MEDICAL INSTRUMENT SURFACE-TREATED WITH SAID COATING AGENT
Disclosed is a coating agent that contains a polyorganosiloxane (1) represented by the following general formula (1), a polydiorganosiloxane (2) represented by the following general formula (2), and either one of an amino group-containing polyorganosiloxane (3) represented by the following general formula (3) and a hydroxy group-containing polyorganosiloxane (4) represented by the following general formula (4). A coating agent having improved piecing properties and a medical instrument (for example, a needle) surface-treated (coated) with the coating agent are provided.

Rapid cure silicone lubricious coatings
Novel, lubricious coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability, and are readily applied in coating processes. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.
INTIMATE CARE LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR MAKING SAME
Silicone-in-water emulsions and methods for making same, are disclosed which are useful and effective as lubricants for use in intimate care applications, as a skin condition, as a surgical lubricant and/or as a carrier for an active topical pharmaceutical agent. In preferred examples, the emulsions of the present invention are flowable, have a viscosity of equal to or below about 15,000 centipoise (cP), and are stable upon storage for at least about 1 year.
SYNTHETIC ELECTROSURGICAL LUBRICANTS, KITS AND METHODS REGARDING THE SAME
Electrosurgical lubricants, sterilized kits including the lubricants, methods for using the lubricants, and methods for preparing sterilized kits having the lubricants therein. Electrosurgical devices utilize a high frequency electrical current to cut and to coagulate tissue during surgery. A problem of the electrosurgical devices is that the heat thereof causes tissue, such as that of a human being, to remain on the device and is generally difficult to remove, even with repeated washings. The electrosurgical lubricants have been found to considerably reduce the amount of eschar that builds up on electrosurgical devices, decrease the tendency of electrodes to stick to tissues at the surgical site, and prevent damage to the surface of the electrosurgical device.
POLYMERIC COATINGS FOR METAL SURFACES
Polymer compositions for coating of metal surfaces including moieties that interact with a metal atom in the metal surface and optionally containing antifoulant moieties. These polymer compositions provide lubricious coatings for medical devices, anticorrosion coatings for metal components, and antifoulant coatings for marine components such as propellers. The polymer composition is synthesized in a safe manner in which the synthesis components are added to a synthesis vat and there is no need for filtration or removal of waste materials in any step including the consumer use. As such this invention provides an environmentally sound approach to composition synthesis, formulation development, and consumer use.
HYDROPHILIC COPOLYMER AND MEDICAL DEVICE
A hydrophilic copolymer that can form a surface lubricious layer exhibiting superior lubricating property and durability (lubrication retaining property), is provided. A hydrophilic copolymer having a good solvent solubility is provided. A hydrophilic copolymer is provided containing: structural units derived from a polymerizable monomer (A) having a sulfobetaine structure; structural units derived from a polymerizable monomer (B) having at least one group selected from the group consisting of a sulfonic acid group (SO.sub.3H), a sulfuric acid group (OSO.sub.3H), a sulfurous acid group (OSO.sub.2H), and groups of salts thereof; and structural units derived from a polymerizable monomer (C) having a photoreactive group.
