Rapid Cure Silicone Lubricious Coatings
Novel, lubricious coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability, and are readily applied in coating processes. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.
ELECTRO-RHEOLOGICAL FLUID AND HAPTIC DEVICE
The present invention relates to an electro-rheological fluid comprising particles of at least one inorganic or organic material suspended in a polar liquid crystalline medium, the use of such electro-rheological fluid in an haptic device, an haptic device itself, a method of the production of such haptic device and the use of such haptic device in electro-optical devices.
Lubricant composition for initial break-in, sliding member, and sliding member manufacturing method
Provided is an initial break-in lubricant composition capable of easily and economically reducing the coefficient of friction of a sliding portion. The initial break-in lubricant composition includes an organic dispersion medium and nanocarbon particles in a quantity from 0.1 to 2000 ppm by mass. The nanocarbon particles are preferably particles of one or more nanocarbon material(s) selected from the group consisting of: nanodiamonds, fullerenes, graphene oxide, nanographite, carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofilaments, onion-like carbon, diamond-like carbon, amorphous carbon, carbon black, carbon nanohorns, and carbon nanocoils.
Contact member, connector, composition, and method for producing contact member
The present invention provides a contact member that strikes a balance between low electrical resistance and sliding durability under the condition of load as low as about 0.1 N. A contact member of the invention has a metal base and a coating disposed on at least part of the metal base. The coating contains fluorinated oil having a polar group, and metal particles surface-treated with a fluorine-based compound having a polar group.

ENHANCED LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
Disclosed herein is a lubricant composition comprising a base oil or a fully formulated lubricant; and graphene nanoparticles derived from a carbon containing gas dispersed in the base oil or the fully formed lubricant.
Additive for lubricants
An additive for lubricants containing, a ZrO.sub.2 particle coated with a silane coupling agent, and a dispersion medium for the ZrO.sub.2 particle, wherein a BET specific surface area of the ZrO.sub.2 particle coated with the silane coupling agent obtained by removing the dispersion medium is 40% or more of a BET specific surface area of the ZrO.sub.2 particle before coating with the silane coupling agent.
Altering sedimentation mechanisms in carbon-based nano-lubricants
Methods of making improved nanolubricants are providing including dispersing carbon nanoparticles selected from the group consisting of graphene (GN), single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in a base fluid, such as POE. The carbon nanoparticles are dispersed by adding the carbon nanoparticles to the base fluid to obtain a mixture and mixing the mixture for about 5 minutes using a magnetic stirrer to obtain a suspension. The resulting suspension is then further dispersed using a bath ultrasonicator for about 60 minutes starting at about 25 C. The temperature may be varied up to about 49 C. and back down to about 25 C. over the course of the 60-minute period.
Magnetic viscous fluid and mechanical device
The present invention provides a magnetic viscous fluid comprising a magnetic particle, at least one selected from ester base synthetic oil, ether base synthetic oil, and alkylnaphthalene having an alkyl group with 10 to 20 carbons, an inorganic cation exchanger with a siloxane bond, and silicone oil.
