This invention provides a threaded connection for pipes or tubes having high over-torque performance, and a method for producing the threaded connection for pipes or tubes. A threaded connection for pipes or tubes according to the present embodiment includes a pin and a box. The pin and the box include a contact surface including a threaded portion and a metal contact portion. The threaded connection for pipes or tubes includes a solid lubricant coating layer on at least one of the contact surfaces of the pin and the box, the solid lubricant coating layer including a resin, a solid lubricant powder, and Cr.sub.2O.sub.3.
Vacuum pump lubricants
A vacuum pump may include a rotor and a stator, wherein the rotor is supported by metal bearings (such as steel bearings) to allow relative rotation of the rotor with respect to the stator. A liquid PFPE lubricant compound is provided to lubricate the bearings, wherein the lubricant further comprises a solid lubricant that is in suspension in the liquid lubricant. The solid lubricant can comprise any of graphite, graphene and molybdenum disulphide. In other words, the inventive concept encompasses a lubricated bearing arranged to support a rotating shaft in a body under sub-atmospheric conditions, wherein a lubricant used to lubricate the bearing comprises liquid PFPE lubricant having a low vapour pressure, and a solid lubricant that is held in suspension in the liquid lubricant. The solid lubricant may comprise any of graphite, graphene and molybdenum disulphide.
Process for in-situ synthesis of dispersion ZnO—TiO2 nanoparticles in oil
The present invention provides a process for in situ synthesis of dispersion of ZnO and TiO.sub.2 nanoparticles in an oil medium, wherein the process comprises: (a) providing layered basic zinc hydroxide (LBZ) in an oil medium, containing a dispersant, (b) providing a titanium precursor in the oil medium to obtain a mixture, (c) hydrolyzing the mixture to obtain a suspension, and (d) decomposing the suspension to obtain a dispersion of mixture of ZnO and TiO.sub.2 nanoparticles. The present invention also provides an oil dispersion comprising dispersant stabilized mixture of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide nanoparticles were synthesized through this process. The dispersion contains up to 2.5 Wt % metals loading balanced with dispersant and base oil or dispersant alone. Addition of this dispersion to oil of lubricating viscosity improves the anti-wear property and resulting a low SAPS formulation.
Threaded tubular component and method for coating such a threaded tubular component
A method for producing a matrix-containing dry film on a threaded tubular component for drilling or working hydrocarbon wells, by applying a mixture containing a dispersion or an aqueous emulsion of an acrylic copolymer with a solution of an alkaline polysilicate in a liquid state onto a threaded end of the threaded tubular component by spraying at a temperature of from 20 C. to 40 C. thereby obtaining a threaded end coated with a film; drying the threaded end coated with the film; and densifying the film.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CREATING DURABLE LUBRICIOUS SURFACES VIA INTERFACIAL MODIFICATION
Embodiments described herein relate generally to systems and methods for creating durable lubricious surfaces (DLS) via interfacial modification. The DLS can be prepared via a combination of a solid, a liquid, and an additive that modifies the interface between the DLS and a contact liquid, resulting in an interfacial layer that acts as a lubricant and/or protective coating between the DLS and the contact liquid. The lubricating effect created between the additive and the contact liquid results in enhanced slipperiness, as well as the protective properties that can help with durability of the DLS.
ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUID
The present invention provides an electrorheological fluid, which includes a dielectric particle, a conductor particle and insulating oil, and the dielectric particle is evenly dispersed in the insulating oil; wherein the conductor particle is evenly dispersed in the insulating oil or inlaid in an interior and on a surface of the dielectric particle. The electrorheological fluid has the advantages of high shear stress, long service life, good temperature stability and small leakage current.
COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING A GRAPHENE-BASED MATERIAL AS LUBRICANT ADDITIVES
Nanoparticle compositions contain a graphene-based material. A preparation process involves providing several components and milling a mixture. The nanoparticle compositions can be used as a lubricant additive to improve tribological performance, in particular to improve anti-friction and anti-wear performance on metal parts. A corresponding lubricant composition contains these nanoparticle compositions.
LUBRICATING COMPOSITION BASED ON NANO CARBON TOROIDS
A carbon nanotori-based lubricant composition for tribological applications, specifically for use in machining operations, which includes distilled water and a specific content of carbon nanotori having specific properties, which make them suitable for proper dispersal in distilled water without precipitation and remaining stable for a long time in dispersion without the need to add surfactants.
Fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition and method for producing same
A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition including a base oil and fullerene, wherein the fullerene is dissolved, and the concentration is 1 ppm by mass or more and less than 50 ppm by mass.
METAL NANOPARTICLES AS LUBRICANT ADDITIVES
A lubricant composition comprising: (i) silver or gold nanoparticles, each of which is encapsulated by a layer of alkylthiol or alkylamine molecules; (ii) palladium or platinum nanoparticles, each of which is encapsulated by a layer of alkylthiol or alkylamine molecules; and (iii) a fluid in which components (i) and (ii) are present. Further described are methods for applying the lubricant composition onto a mechanical device for which lubrication is beneficial, with resulting improvement in friction and wear reduction and/or corrosion inhibition.
