Provided is a lubricating oil composition containing an antifoaming agent having high antifoaming performance even when the lubricant base oil has low viscosity. The lubricating oil composition comprises a lubricant base oil and drops of an antifoaming agent dispersion system dispersed in the lubricant base oil, wherein the antifoaming agent dispersion system comprises a dispersion medium mixture and an antifoaming agent dispersed in the dispersion medium mixture, and the dispersion medium mixture comprises a dispersion medium and an additive for dispersion.
Maleinated Derivatives
This invention relates to malienated derivatives made from maleic anhydride, functionalized monomers, and one or more additional reagents, e.g., an oxygen-containing reagent (e.g., alcohol, polyol), a nitrogen-containing reagent (e.g., amine, polyamine, aminoalcohol), a metal and/or a metal compound. The invention relates to lubricants, functional fluids, fuels, dispersants, detergents and functional compositions (e.g., cleaning solutions, food compositions, etc.)
Aminobisphosphonate antiwear additives
The present invention relates to novel aminobisphosphonate compounds useful as antiwear and/or friction modifier additive components, lubricant additive compositions and lubricant compositions each comprising such compounds, and methods for making and using the same.
Liquid compositions of overbased calcium carboxylate and process for its preparation
The present invention relates to light color, shelf-stable liquid compositions of overbased calcium carboxylate soaps and a process for their preparation. The inventive soaps are prepared by neutralizing calcium base in a mixture of two different aliphatic carboxylic acids and carbonating the mixture in the presence of a non-polar hydrocarbon solvent and a polar organic solvent as a promoter under controlled temperature conditions. The overbased calcium carboxylate soaps of the invention contain 20%-90% by weight of C.sub.7 to C.sub.25 saturated carboxylic acids, which are branched on carbon 2, and between 1% and 20% by weight short chain saturated carboxylic acids. These liquid compositions have light colors and excellent heat stability. They can be used as anticorrosion/antirust additives, and paint dryers and stabilizers, in paints, coatings and lubricants, as well as other applications.
Lubricating oil additives
A lubricating composition comprises an oil-soluble poly(2-oxazoline) additive having the repeat unit:
N(COR.sup.1)CH.sub.2CH.sub.2 where the number of repeat units (n) is an integer between 4 and 1000; where the polymer carries an inorganic or organic nucleophilic polymerization terminating group t, and a linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl polymerization initiator group (i); and where R.sup.1 comprises a single or a mixture of linear branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl groups having 1-100 carbon atoms, some or all having 12-100 carbon atoms, or of at least one macro-monomeric hydrocarbyl group with more than 50 carbon atoms provided that when the polymer is a homopolymer and R.sup.1 lacks any hetero atoms; (A) i has a molecular weight of less than 250 g/mol, and R.sup.1 has an average number of carbon atoms of 12 to 50; or (B) n is greater than 15. The polymer may provide the composition, in the form of a lubricant, with friction modifier, and with low impact on lubricant viscosity. The polymer may be a homopolymer, a block copolymer or a star polymer.
Use of O/W emulsions for chain lubrication
The invention relates to the use of an O/W emulsion, in particular a PIT emulsion, for lubricating conveyor belt systems in food industries as well as a lubricant concentrate based on an O/W emulsion, in particular a PIT emulsion, of wax esters.
Use of specific derivatives of quaternized nitrogen compounds as additives in fuels and lubricants
The invention relates to the use of specific quaternized nitrogen compounds which are also subjected to specific transesterification or amidation, as a fuel and lubricant additive or kerosene additive, such as in particular as a detergent additive, for decreasing or preventing deposits in the injection systems of direct-injection diesel engines, in particular in common rail injection systems, for decreasing the fuel consumption of direct-injection diesel engines, in particular of diesel engines having common rail injection systems, and for minimizing the power loss in direct-injection diesel engines, in particular in diesel engines having common rail injection systems. The invention further relates to the use as an additive for petrol, in particular for operation of DISI engines.
Marine engine lubrication
A trunk piston marine engine lubricant comprises in respective minor amounts (A) an overbased metal hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate detergent system, and (B) a hydrocarbyl-substituted succinic acid anhydride made by halogen- or radical-assisted functionalization processes, where the ratio of succinic anhydride to hydrocarbyl chains is in the range of 1.4 to 4. The lubricant, when used to lubricate such an engine fuelled by heavy fuel oil, exhibits improved control of asphaltene precipitation and deposition on engine surfaces.
Emulsifier for Lubricating Oil Concentrate
The present disclosure provides a lubricating oil concentrate containing an ethoxylated ether amine and a base oil. The lubricating oil concentrate is capable of forming a stable, low foaming emulsion when added to an aqueous medium and may be useful in metalworking and cleaning fluids.
FUNCTIONAL POLYALKYL (METH)ACRYLATES WITH ENHANCED DEMULSIBILITY PERFORMANCE
Polyalkyl(meth)acrylate (PAMA) polymers comprising a certain amount of hydroxyl-functionalized alkyl (meth)acrylates can be used for improving the demulsibility performance of high VI lubricating oil compositions.
