WINTERIZATION OF FISH OIL
The present invention relates to a process for winterizing crude fish oil by an improved winterization process, wherein a solubilizing agent is added to the fish oil prior to the winterization. The solubilizing agent is preferably a fat-soluble edible organic compound, such as fatty acids or fatty acid mixtures. The invention further relates to compositions obtainable by the process.
Extraction of cannabidiol
The invention is methodology of producing a variety of cannabis derivatives such as THC, CBD, Delta-11, and budder. The technique involves the steps of: grinding a whole cannabis plant, including the root ball thereof, freezing the ground plant, soaking the frozen ground plant in a selected solvent, and, removing the solvent, thereby producing desired derivative of cannabis. Solvents include coconut oil, olive oil, vegetable oils, avocado oil, and seed oils.
LIQUID STORAGE AND FILTRATION SYSTEM
A design and method for using a filtration system is provided. The filtration system can include a container, an inner cup, and a filter pad. The filtration system can be configured to remove undesirable impurities from liquid. For example, the filtration system can be configured to remove total polar molecules and lovibond color red from used cooking oil.
METHODS OF REFINING A GRAIN OIL COMPOSITION, AND RELATED COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USING
The present disclosure relates methods and systems for refining grain oil compositions using water, and related compositions produced therefrom. The present disclosure also relates to methods of using grain oil derived from a fermentation product in an anti-foam composition and/or feedstock to make diesel.
PROCESS FOR PURIFYING BIODIESEL
The present invention describes a process for purifying biodiesel without using a filter aid, in which purification of the biodiesel takes place by a sequence of washing operations after the reaction section, with stirring that is sufficiently vigorous to assist in the transformation of the molecules of esterified steryl glycosides, in order to convert them to a chemical form that can be removed by the process.
Systems and methods for closed loop solvent extraction and purification
Provided herein are systems and methods for the facile extraction and purification of oils from plant material, including cannabis and hemp. The systems and methods herein are versatile, and may utilize a wide range of solvents to extract oils from a variety of plant-based material. Further, the provided systems and methods are closed loop, reducing the loss solvent and decreasing the risk of safety concerns such as human exposure to solvent chemicals or explosion of volatiles. In some embodiments, the systems and methods remove impurities from the extracted oils, for example waxes or other precipitates, and provide a higher purity and higher quality extract.
NUT OIL SEPARATION SYSTEM AND METHOD AND PRODUCTS RESULTING THEREFROM
A system and method for the separation of nut or seed oil from shelled nuts or seeds are disclosed. The method comprises the grinding of shelled nuts or seeds and at least one carbohydrate for a length of time sufficient to promote nut or seed oil separation, leaving behind defatted nut or seed dough that can be further processed into a food product such as snack bar or nut milk. A system for the separation of nut or seed oil from shelled nuts or seeds comprises sources for both shelled nuts or seeds and at least one carbohydrate, and a grinding unit comprising at least one movable member, optional stationary member, and a vessel.
Continuous system and process for treating a low-water biomass stream with liquefied-gas solvent to separate and recover organic products
A method and system for the treatment of a biomass stream to separate organic extracts/biomolecules (such as proteins, lipids and/or carotenoids) from the biomass stream, wherein the water content of the biomass stream is decreased by bringing the biomass stream into contact with a compressed liquefied gas solvent, to create a low-water content biomass stream and introducing the low-water content biomass stream to an extraction apparatus that recovers one or more organic products with little or no measurable solvent residue.
METHODS FOR OBTAINING PHOSPHOLIPIDS AND COMPOSITIONS THEREOF
The invention provides methods for obtaining lipid compositions comprising phospholipids having a high docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) content, which compositions are preferably extracted from natural sources such as fish roe. The lipid compositions are excellent sources of highly bioavailable DHA and they can be used in oral delivery vehicles, dietary supplements, functional foods, and the like.
Light phase product recovery methods and systems
Methods and systems for recovering a desired co-product from a feedstock to ethanol production process are provided. The methods involve a multi-step separation of a fermentation-derived feedstock, in which an initial separation produces a discharge stream and an output feed stream including the co-product, and a final separation further purifies the output feed stream while also producing a recycle stream that is reintroduced into the separation process. The systems include at least an initial and at least a final separation device which are in fluid communication in both upstream and downstream directions. The initial separation device separates at least a portion of a non-co-product containing phase from a feed stream comprising the non-co-product containing phase and a co-product containing phase, and the final separation device separates at least a portion of the co-product containing phase from a stream comprising the co-product containing phase and a non-co-product containing phase.
