COMPOSITION CONTAINING HIGHLY UNSATURATED FATTY ACID OR ALKYL ESTER THEREOF AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
PROBLEM To provide a composition comprising highly enriched PUFA or its alkyl esters while containing fatty acid esters of 3-MCPD at adequately low concentrations and to provide an efficient method for producing the composition.
MEANS FOR SOLVING A composition that contains fatty acids or fatty acid alkyl esters as its major component, the composition containing highly unsaturated fatty acid or alkyl ester thereof, wherein the proportion of the highly unsaturated fatty acid in the constituent fatty acids of the composition is 50 area % or more and wherein the concentration of 3-MCPD as found upon analyzing the composition by American Oil Chemists' Society official method Cd 29b-13 assay A is less than 1.80 ppm.
Device, system and method for in-situ optical monitoring and control of extraction and purification of plant materials
In-situ optical spectroscopic monitoring, characterization and feedback control of extraction and purification processes of compounds such as oils, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenes and cannabinoids derived from plant material are described. Liquids from an extraction or purification process flow down an optically transparent tube, such as one made of glass. An in-situ optical monitoring assembly is configured to be mounted onto the tube to measure optical properties of the liquid extract or liquid condensate as it flows in the tube. Optical properties of the flowing liquid may include optical transmittance, reflectance, photoluminescence, scattering, absorbance, turbidity, nephelometry, polarimetry and colorimetry. The output of the optical monitoring assembly can be used to display spectral and other about the flowing liquid, set alarms to notify an operator of a predetermined condition such as a set point, and used to control extraction or purification process.

Remediation of pesticides from agricultural oils
A method of remediating pesticides from an agricultural oil includes mixing a reaction solvent, a reducing agent, and an agricultural oil into a reaction mixture in a reaction vessel, controlling the temperature of the reaction mixture, producing a pre-neutralization mixture including a separation solvent, transferring the pre-neutralization mixture into a neutralization reactor that contains a neutralization agent, mixing the pre-neutralization mixture with the neutralization agent and allowing separation into an aqueous layer and a separation solvent layer, draining the aqueous layer, and distilling the separation solvent in the separation solvent layer from the remediated agricultural oils. A system has a reactor vessel, the reactor vessel having one or more inlets to allow a reducing agent, the agricultural oil, the separation solvent, and other additives as needed to produce a reaction mixture, a temperature control unit to control a temperature of the reaction mixture at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined time, a neutralization vessel fluidically connected to the reactor vessel to receive the reaction mixture from the reactor vessel, the neutralization vessel having an inlet to allow a neutralization agent to be introduced into the neutralization vessel to produce a neutralized reaction mixture, and a valve arranged at a bottom of the neutralization vessel to allow an aqueous phase of the reaction mixture to be drained from the neutralization vessel.
