THERMALLY-PROTECTIVE MATERIAL AND COOL-TOUCH CANDLE ASSEMBLIES PREPARED THEREWITH
The present invention relates to materials and systems useful for increasing the safety profile of a candle. In particular, the present invention provides a thermally-protective material that is useful to prepare labels or wraps to encircle or surround a candle. The present invention further provides a cool-touch thermally-protected candle assembly.
MULTI-SIDED CANDLE UNIT
A candle unit including multiple candle characteristics, such as multiple candle colors and/or multiple candle scents. The candle unit is specifically configured and adapted to be invertible/repositionable, such that when the candle unit is in a first orientation, a first characteristic is perceptible, and when the candle unit is in an inverted, second orientation, a second characteristic is perceptible. Thus, the user may effectively change the characteristics of the candle unit simply by inverting/transitioning the candle unit between different operative orientations, as opposed to swapping out the candle unit for a different candle unit.
CANDLE WITH SHIMMERING PROPERTIES
A candle with shimmering properties has (i) wax; and (ii) light reflective particles dispersed throughout the wax, in the form of a candle base mixture, such that upon lighting the candle base mixture with a flame, at least a portion of the candle base mixture melts from a solid state to a liquid state, forming a pool of molten liquid in which the liquid moves. The light reflective particles highlight the movement of the liquid, such that the movement of the liquid is visible to an observer. A wick may be mounted within the candle base mixture and a container may contain the candle base mixture. A fragrance and/or dye are optional ingredients of the candle.
Candle wax comprising a polymer and method for making candle wax
This invention pertains to candle wax and a method for making candle wax. The candle wax comprises a candle wax base mixture and a polymer wherein the polymer comprises units of the formula (I) wherein X is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkyl maleic anhydride or alkylene-imine; Y is selected from the group consisting of O, S, NH, NCH.sub.2, NCH.sub.2CH.sub.2, COO of which either the carbon or the oxygen group is bound to X, C(O)NH, trialkoxysilane, preferably trimethoxysilane or triethoxysilane, benzyl, amide group; Z is H or a C.sub.1-C.sub.40 alkyl group or a C.sub.1-C.sub.40 alkenyl group; n is a positive integer, preferably is n>3; if Y is COO, then the polymer is a copolymer comprising at least two different units, and if Z is H or a methyl or ethyl, than the polymer is a copolymer comprising at least one unit comprising a C.sub.3-C.sub.40 alkyl group or C.sub.3-C.sub.40 alkenyl group.
TOPICAL MACQUI BERRY FORMULATION
The present invention provides a topical formulation and method of use where the formulation comprises macqui berry or a macqui berry extract containing anthocyanins having a very high oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC). The formulation provides the macqui berry in a stabilized form which includes a glucuronide or glycuronide, a photostabilizing agent, encapsulation, or light- and/or air-blocking packaging.
LIPID-BASED WAX COMPOSITIONS SUBSTANTIALLY FREE OF FAT BLOOM AND METHODS OF MAKING
Lipid-based wax compositions and their methods of making are provided for compositions substantially free of fat bloom. The compositions comprise 0.1-10 percent by weight triacylglycerides, 30-95 percent by weight monoacylglycerides and diacylglycerides combined, and 0.1-65 percent by weight fatty acids. The methods comprise blending the monoacylglycerides, diacylglycerides, triacylglycerides, and fatty acids by heating the lipid-based wax composition at a sufficiently high temperature to destroy substantially all crystal structure within the lipid-based wax composition. The methods further comprise pouring the lipid-based wax composition into a mold or a container having a surface and a core, wherein the pouring is conducted at a temperature at least 15 C. greater than the congeal point of the lipid-based wax composition. The methods further comprise cooling the lipid-based wax composition under conditions sufficient to cool the core to at least 5 C. below the congeal point of the lipid-based wax composition in 30-90 minutes.
Wax compositions for use in candles and methods of preparing wax compositions
A wax composition is disclosed, comprising at least 70% triacylglycerols, wherein the triacylglycerols comprise 0.5 to 50 wt. % of C22 fatty acid. A method of preparing a wax composition is disclosed. A candle comprising the wax composition and a method of preparing a candle are also disclosed.
CANDLE WAX COMPOSITIONS
The present technology provides a wax formulation that includes about 5 wt % to about 85 wt % of a natural oil-based petrolatum composition based on total weight of the wax formulation; and about 1 wt % to about 95 wt % of a wax material based on total weight of the wax formulation; wherein the natural oil-based petrolatum composition that includes an esterification product of a pre-esterification mixture that includes: about 0.1 wt % to about 40 wt % a fatty acid dimer based on total weight of the pre-esterification mixture, about 99.9 wt % to about 60 wt % of one or more components selected from the group consisting of C2-C6 polyols, natural oils, hydrogenated natural oils, fatty acids, and acyl glycerols, based on total weight of the pre-esterification mixture, wherein the natural oil-based petrolatum composition has a cone penetration value of greater than 10 and a polydispersity index of greater than 1.3.
Candle and method of making thereof
The present disclosure provides a candle that includes a jar having an interior surface, a fuel within the jar, a wick positioned within the fuel, and a material layer at least partially extending between the fuel and the interior surface of the jar, wherein the material layer includes a hydrophobic molecule. Further provided herein is a method for producing a candle, which includes a step of providing a jar having an interior surface, a step of pre-coating the interior surface with a hydrophobic molecule, a step of pouring a fuel composition into the jar, and a step of allowing the fuel composition to solidify.
