The invention is directed to a method for the in vitro production of arrangements of cell layers in which a first well (2.1) which is closed off from its environment except for a first inlet opening (4.1) and a first outlet opening (5.1) and which has as a first cell substrate (6.1) a first wall (2.1.1) and as a second cell substrate (6.2) an opposite, second wall (2.1.2) which is separated from the first wall (2.1.1) by a first gap, a free surface of a cell substrate (6.1, 6.2) to be colonized with cells is oriented orthogonal to the Earth's gravitational force, and cells (9) are adhered to the cell substrate (6.1, 6.2) to be colonized. The invention is further directed to a method of maintaining the biological functionalities of the cell layers and semi-finished products of a device for the in vitro production and culturing of cell layers and a method for the production of the device.
Bioreactor For three-dimensional tissue perfusion culture
A bioreactor suitable for perfusion culture of three-dimensional tissues and cells which includes a reaction chamber, a reservoir and a peristaltic pump connected in turn via infusion tubes, wherein the reaction chamber comprises a cover body and a box body including side walls, a bottom wall, a cut-off device, an overflow plate, a screen frame, a static pressure tank, a drainage chute and a drainage trench. The cut-off device is a floodgate or a weir dam. An overflow port which cooperates with the drainage trench is provided, and the screen frame is fixed to two side walls of the box body. The invention can solve the problem of cell death easily caused by non-uniformity of the flow field and uneven transfer of nutrient in the existing perfusion culture, is suitable for three-dimensional culture of tissues and cells, and can improve quality of tissue engineering products.
CELL CULTURE SYSTEM AND CELL CULTURE VESSEL
A cell culture system of the present invention includes: a culture-medium storage part that holds a culture medium for culturing cells; a temporary holding part that is coupled to the culture-medium storage part and that is provided with a holding space for temporarily holding the culture medium supplied from the culture-medium storage part and a discharge port for discharging the culture medium; a culture-medium supply part that is coupled to the discharge port of the temporary holding part and that supplies the culture medium discharged from the temporary holding part, to a cell culture vessel; and a discharge part that discharges the culture medium from the cell culture vessel, wherein the culture-medium supply part is provided with a culture-medium intermittent supply mechanism that intermittently supplies the culture medium discharged from the temporary holding part, to the cell culture vessel in a predetermined cycle.
BIOREACTOR FOR CELL CULTURE
A bioreactor for cell culture comprising, a first set of open top troughs that are interconnected by a first set off low channels to form a first cascade, a second set of open top troughs that are interconnected by a second set of flow channels to form a second cascade, and a set of interconnecting flow channels coupled between the first cascade and the second cascade, wherein the first cascade circulates a fresh media and the second cascade circulates a cell culture and a first quantity of the fresh media from first cascade is supplied to the second cascade through the set of interconnecting flow channels when a second quantity of cell culture is removed from the second cascade.
System for use in bioprocessing
A consumable container for filling with a fluid in a bioprocessing process. The container comprises one or more sealable, removable portions, such that one or more samples of the fluid may be taken by sealing and removing one or more of said portions.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BIOENERGY PRODUCTION USING REGENERATED ACID SOLUTION
The apparatus includes: a pretreatment tank where biomass and a first acid solution are stirred to extract sugar components from the biomass; a hydrolysis tank where water is added to the pretreated mixture transferred from the pretreatment tank such that the concentration of the acid is reduced and the sugar components are hydrolyzed to produce an acid hydrolyzate; a first sugar-acid separation tank where the acid hydrolyzate is separated into a second acid solution and a first hydrolyzate; a second sugar-acid separation tank where the first hydrolyzate is separated into a third acid solution and a second hydrolyzate; a fermentation tank where the second hydrolyzate is fermented to produce bioenergy; and an acid solution concentration tank where a mixture of the second acid solution transferred from the first sugar-acid separation tank and the third acid solution transferred from the second sugar-acid separation tank is concentrated to a higher level for reuse.
Multiple tank high solids anaerobic digester
A multi-stage anaerobic digester is designed to treat a high solids, stackable feedstock. The system may also receive a pumpable feedstock such as a slurry or sludge. In a first stage, the digestate circulates in one direction around a raceway such that the digestate may pass a feed inlet multiple times before leaving the first tank. An optional side stream loop withdraws fibrous material from near the top of the reaceway and return digestate with chopped fibers, preferably lower and further along the raceway. An outlet from the raceway located near, but upstream of the feed inlet discharges partially digested substrate to a second stage, which is operated as a stirred tank reactor. The two stages may be provided in a single tank with an internal wall separating a ring shaped outer portion from a cylindrical inner portion. The digester may be operated in a thermophilic temperature range.
