SEPARATING SYSTEM

A separating system, for example for separating material from a suspension such as a biological suspension, is disclosed herein. The system comprises a separation vessel arranged to enable the formation of a cyclone therewithin. For example, the separation vessel may be at least partially conical in shape for enabling the formation of a cyclone therewithin. The separation vessel comprises a fluid inlet, an underflow outlet and an overflow outlet. The system also comprises at least one of an underflow outlet fluid control means for controlling the flow of fluid through the underflow outlet, and an overflow outlet fluid control means for controlling the flow of fluid through the overflow outlet. The system may further comprise an inlet fluid control means for controlling the flow of fluid through the fluid inlet.

The separation container may include a body defining an internal chamber. The body may define an opening, and the body may be configured to receive the sample within the internal chamber. The separation container may further include a seal disposed across the opening, such that the seal may be configured to seal the opening of the body, and a plunger movably disposed at least partially inside the internal chamber. The plunger may be configured to be actuated to open the seal and express the portion of the sample.

Centrifugal Microfluidic Chip, Kit and System for On-Chip Gas Supply

A centrifugal microfluidic chip is provided that allows an on-chip chamber to provide humidification control, or more generally, gas composition control, to another chamber of the chip. This allows for microfluidic incubation using low-cost and efficient centrifugal devices such as multi-port pneumatic chip controllers, single or multi-port pneumatic slip rings, and articulated centrifugal blades with a pneumatic slip ring. The device may be used for cell culturing, microorganism testing, or production of chemical species from biological samples with a controlled microenvironment.
