The plunger may be configured to be actuated to open the seal and express the portion of the sample.

The apparatus has a container with a containment volume with a tissue retention volume and a filtrate volume separated by a filter and with a pellet well for collecting concentrate product in the form of a pellet phase from centrifuge processing. The pellet well is accessible only from above when the apparatus is in an access orientation. An automatic cell isolation and collection system for sorting out target cells from a sample includes a crush module, a centrifuge module, a transport module, and a control unit. The centrifuge module includes centrifuge tubes and a magnetic mechanism providing a magnetically attractive force to at least one of the centrifuge tubes. The control unit electrically communicates with the crush module, the centrifuge module, and the transport module, and controls operation of the crush module, transport of the sample via the transport module after the sample is crushed by the crush module, centrifugation of the centrifuge module, and operation of the magnetic mechanism for providing the magnetically attractive force.

A centrifuge device is provided for the sizing and separation of constituents of a biologic mixture, e.g., adipose tissue. The device provides for the mechanical breaking down of the fibrous structure in the tissue by centrifugation causing the tissue to pass through a mesh element, or a sizing helix, or an extrusion element, whereupon the material is reduced to a slurry. This processed material may then be separated by centrifugation into its constituents, in order to harvest the fraction containing the multipotent cells. These multipotent cells may be utilized for various medical procedures to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration.

A stem cell culturing method includes a second bone marrow aspirate cultured along with a culture medium with first stem cells being fixed on a first culturing vessel bottom surface. When a total surface area of the first stem cells reaches a first target ratio with respect to the bottom surface area of the first culturing vessel, the first stem cells are extracted from the first culturing vessel. Top layer second stem cells are extracted from the first stem cells that are separated into layers and the second stem cells are cultured along with a culture medium. The second stem cells are fixed on a second culturing vessel bottom surface and, when a total surface area of the second stem cells reaches a second target ratio with respect to the bottom surface area of the second culturing vessel, the second stem cells are extracted from the second culturing vessel.

A system and method for automatically digesting, culturing and growing a biopsy. The digester is a closed fluid transfer system, including disposable and durable parts, that receives a biopsy, washes the biopsy tissue, digests the tissue to separate the cells from each other, and seeds the cells in a culture flask. In one use, the system receives cells from a patient, expands and multiplies them, and returns them to the patient. A controller coordinates the motion of a plurality of pumps and the status of a plurality of valves, the pumps and the plurality of valves moving the fluid throughout the system. A sensor system assists the controller in volume and flow rate control of the fluids in the system, and in controlling the position of a tube providing air and fluids to a biopsy vial that includes the biopsy.

The method also includes introducing an amount of a wash solution effective to wash the fat graft or an amount of a cryoprotectant effective to cryopreserve the fat graft into the internal chamber of the vessel through a second opening of the vessel and mixing the fat tissue with the wash solution or the cryoprotectant. The method further includes either: when wash solution is introduced, centrifuging the device containing the fat graft to separate the fat graft from the wash solution and drawing the wash solution from the first end of the device; or, when cryoprotectant is introduced, cooling the fat graft to a temperature below 0? C.
