The rotor mixer is used to vortex lysis mixtures, wherein the vortexing speed is sufficient to overcome the magnetic attraction between the beads and mixer tip and disperse the beads in solution, to collect nucleic acids such as DNA.
TRACKING OF LYSING AT A LOCATION ON A TISSUE SECTION
Some embodiments are directed to a method for tracking lysis progress in an automated lysing device. For example, the lysing device may be configured to execute multiple iterations of lysing at a defined location on the tissue section and imaging the defined location on the tissue section using a camera. From the images a lysing parameter may be determined to improve lysing.
LYSIS OF A SAMPLE BY MEANS OF MAGNETIC ELEMENTS AND ROTATIONAL RELATIVE MOVEMENT
Lysis apparatus including a chamber for receiving a sample and at least one magnetic actuator located within the chamber as well as at least two magnetic elements arranged outside the chamber. Above that, such a lysis apparatus includes a driving unit for effecting a rotational relative movement between the chamber and the at least two magnetic elements arranged outside the chamber, wherein the polarity of the magnetic elements is opposite with respect to the circular path of the rotational relative movement and hence, for example, the chamber, such that the magnetic actuator arranged within the chamber is moved both translationally and rotationally to effect lysis of the sample. Here, the chamber is configured, e.g., by its dimensioning or a flexible outer shell, to enable the at least one magnetic actuator located within the chamber to move both translationally and rotationally.
PROTECTIVE SOLUTION FOR ISOLATING MITOCHONDRIA, USE THEREOF, KIT COMPRISING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR ISOLATING MITOCHONDRIA
The embodiments according to the present disclosure provide a protective solution, a kit, and a method for isolating mitochondria. The kit includes an extraction tube, a protective solution, and a suction needle. The extraction tube is used to contain cells. The protective solution is used to mix with the cells in the extraction tube to form a mixture solution, and the osmolarity of the protective solution is greater than 0 and less than or equal to 220 mOsm/L. The suction needle is used to suck the mixed solution back and forth to facilitate the release of mitochondria from cells. This method and the protective solution may isolate mitochondria from cells with high efficiency in a simple and convenient way, and the isolated mitochondria have excellent good function.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING WASTE STREAMS
According to present disclosure, there is disclosed an algae growth and cultivation system that provides a cost-efficient means of producing algae biomass as feedstock for algae-based products, such as, fertilizer, feed, biofuel manufacture, and desirably impacts, nutrient recovery from waste streams for valued byproducts production, recycle water, and alternative/renewable energy production. The system as discussed herein is an integrated systems approach to wastewater treatment, algal strains selection for byproducts production, and recycle of algal biomass-processing waste or additional algae harvested as feedstock for products such as fertilizer production. Embodiments of a system as discussed herein present an economically viable algae production system and process that allows algae-derived products such as fertilizer, feed, biofuels, etc. to compete with non-organic or petroleum products in the marketplace.
