CONTROLLING PROCESS GASES
Biomass (e.g., plant biomass, animal biomass, and municipal waste biomass) is processed to produce useful intermediates and products, such as energy, fuels, foods or materials. For example, equipment, systems and methods are described that can be used to treat feedstock materials, such as cellulosic and/or lignocellulosic materials, in a vault in which hazardous gases are removed, destroyed and/or converted. The treatments are efficient and can reduce the recalcitrance of the lignocellulosic material so that it is easier to produce an intermediate or product, e.g., sugars, alcohols, sugar alcohols and energy, from the lignocellulosic material.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF CARBON FIXATION USING SOLVENTOGENIC CLOSTRIDIUM BEIJERINCKII
Described herein are systems and methods of fixing inorganic carbon using an amount of Clostridium beijerinckii.
A PROCESS FOR THE REMOVAL OF SILOXANES FROM LANDFILL GASES
In a process for the removal of siloxanes from biogas streams, especially a landfill gas stream or a gas stream from anaerobic digesters, the gas stream is first passed through a conventional siloxane removing unit to remove the majority of the siloxanes and subsequently passed over a selected catalyst with polishing effect, thereby removing remaining traces of siloxanes. The catalyst with polishing effect is chosen from i.a. zeolites, porous silica, titania and various metals on alumina or titania.
Method for Binding Hazardous Agricultural Ammonia Using Organic Carbon Dioxide
A method for binding hazardous agricultural ammonia using organic carbon dioxide reduces ammonia emissions from farming operations producing livestock, such as cows, pigs, and poultry. The method entraps a quantity of agricultural ammonia within an ammonia solution by reacting the quantity of agricultural ammonia with a quantity of organic carbon dioxide within a primary reaction vessel. The quantity of agricultural ammonia is mixed with a quantity of organic carbon dioxide to form an ammonia-bound solution. The ammonia-bound solution is able to be stored or transported for use in future chemical processes.
Systems and methods for processing organic compounds
The present disclosure relates to a novel process to control odors from manure by digesting the manure into Methane. Embodiments may comprise a two stage anaerobic digestion process to digest the wastes and remove the nutrients from the wastewater. The initial anaerobic digestion is carried out in a closed vessel to capture any gassed released and otherwise proceeds as current practices are. The wastewater from the first stage digestion is then pumped into a second reaction vessel. This vessel reproduces the conditions that produce natural gas (methane) in the geologic setting, with high temperatures and high pressures.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING A FUEL FROM BIOGAS
A method for producing a fuel includes transporting one or more pressure vessels containing pressurized biogas from a first location to a second location, and removing biogas from the one or more pressure vessels at the second location. The fuel production process is improved by controlling the decanting flow rate to provide a total decant time greater than 30-40 minutes, by actively heating biogas contained within the one or more pressure vessels, or some combination thereof.
Biogas upgrading apparatus and process
A biogas upgrading system can include a multiple stage membrane system that is configured to remove oxygen so that the biogas is upgraded to have a higher concentration of methane, a pre-selected oxygen (O.sub.2) concentration (e.g. less than or equal to 0.2 mol %, etc.), and a pre-selected carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) concentration (e.g. less than or equal to 5 mol %, etc.). The membrane system can be configured to reject O.sub.2 by utilizing a low CO.sub.2/O.sub.2 selectivity that is within a pre-determined range (e.g. less than 5 or less than 4.5). In some embodiments, the upgraded biogas that is output from the system can be entirely made up of methane, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. In other embodiments, the biogas can be almost entirely composed of these components along with a small amount of nitrogen and a trace amount (e.g. less than or equal to 0.2%-0.1%, etc.) of other components.
Bioreactor with condenser
Bioreactor with a vessel having at least one gas dissipation duct for gas discharge, the orifice of the gas dissipation duct being connected to a hydrophobic sterile filter and to a condenser arranged between them and having condensation surfaces, a turbulence generator for generating a turbulent flow is arranged in the gas dissipation duct in the region of the condenser.
METHOD FOR THE REMOVAL OF OXYGEN FROM AN INDUSTRIAL GAS
Oxygen is removed from a gas feed such as a landfill gas, a digester gas or an industrial CO.sub.2 off-gas by removing sulfur-containing compounds and siloxanes from the feed gas, heating the feed gas, injecting one or more reactants for oxygen conversion into the heated feed gas, carrying out a selective catalytic oxygen conversion in at least onesuitable reactor and cleaning the resulting oxygen-depleted gas. The reactants to be injected comprise one or more of H.sub.2, CO, ammonia, urea, methanol, ethanol and dimethylether (DME).
A PROCESS FOR THE PURIFYING OF A RAW GAS STREAM CONTAINING MAINLY C1-C5 HYDROCARBONS AND CARBON DIOXIDE, AND IMPURITIES OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC SULFUR COMPOUNDS, HALOGENATED AND NON-HALOGENATED VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS AND OXYGEN
A method for the purification of a raw gas stream by selective catalytic oxidation, in which organic and inorganic sulfur compounds, halogenated and non-halogenated volatile organic compounds are selectively oxidized without substantially oxidizing the lower hydrocarbons and the sulfur containing compounds present in the gas to sulfur trioxide and excess of oxygen is removed by oxidation of lower alcohols, ethers or hydrogen added to the raw gas stream upstream the catalytic oxidation.
