Solid state fermentation reactor equipped with active support material
An active solid state fermentation bioreactor for producing gases, liquid(s) or solids from gaseous or gaseous and liquid starting materials and a fermentation process using the reactor are disclosed, The bioreactor includes three major phases; a solid phase including the porous solid support, a liquid phase comprising liquid, and a gaseous phase. The solid phase includes a porous solid support, in which at least 20% of the pore volumes have a size resulting in a liquid suction of about 0.01 to about 0.1 bars if these pores are filled with liquid, the porous solid support is inoculated with desired micro-organisms, the volume of the gaseous phase is 20% to 60% of the volume of the bioreactor, and the liquid phase is at least 20% of the reactor volume, The unsaturated capillary conductivity of filling/packing solid material of the bioreactor is at least 0.1 cm/ h. The solid state fermentation bioreactor enables a large gas-liquid interface, in which the filling material has a good capillary conductivity despite the unsaturated state.
BIOMAGNETIC MICROSPHERE AND PREPARATION METHOD AND USE METHOD THEREFOR
A biomagnetic microsphere and a preparation method and a method for protein isolation and purification therefor. The outer surface of a magnetic microsphere body of the biomagnetic microsphere has at least one liner polymer with a branched chain; one end of the linear polymer with a branched chain is covalently coupled to the outer surface of the magnetic microsphere body, and other parts are free on the outer surface of the magnetic microsphere body; a backbone of the linear polymer is a polyolefin backbone, and no cross-linking agent is required in the backbone forming process of the linear polymer. The prepared biomagnetic microsphere can implement efficient elution of target proteins and effectively reduce the retention time and retention ratio of the target proteins, and it is easy to operate and widely used.

Method of facilitating mitigation of cosmetic imperfections associated with fingerprint impressions on anodized materials and anodized materials treated for providing same
Disclosed herein are methods specifically tailored for facilitating the mitigation of cosmetic impressions associated with fingerprint impressions on surface(s) of articles of manufacture made from anodized substrates. To this end, such methods provide for removal of fingerprints by enzymatically functionalizing the surface(s) of the article of manufacture (e.g., a cosmetic coating thereof) to generate an enzymatically active surface and activating such enzymatically functionalized surface(s) to promote such fingerprint removal. Thus methods and articles of manufacture made in accordance with such methods provide improved end-use utility and functionality of many products for consumer electronic applications, automotive applications, building materials applications, and the like.
MAGNETOELASTIC MICROCARRIERS AND MONITORING SYSTEM
Certain examples of the disclosure concern an apparatus including a microcarrier configured to receive and support attachment and growth of cells, and a magnetoelastic sensor enclosed by the microcarrier. The magnetoelastic sensor is configured to vibrate in response to an activation magnetic field, and the vibration can produce a return magnetic field having detectable field characteristics associated with the attachment or growth of the cells.

IMMOBILIZED ENZYMATIC REACTOR
An immobilized enzymatic reactor can include a wall defining a chamber having an inlet and an outlet; a solid stationary phase covalently linked to an enzyme and disposed within the chamber; and a pressure modulator in a fluid communication with the chamber and adapted to support continuous flow of a liquid sample comprising a polymer analyte through the inlet, over the solid stationary phase, and out of the outlet under a pressure between about 2,500 and 35,000 psi. In one example, the solid stationary phase includes inorganic/organic hybrid particles in an ultra performance liquid chromatography system, the enzyme is a protease, and the polymer analyte is a polypeptide. The immobilized enzymatic reactor can prepare an analyte for applications such as for hydrogen deuterium exchange mass spectrometry.
