Alloy

A composite metal where a phase of particles of solid solution is uniformly dispersed in a Cu phase, the solid solution containing a solid solution of a heat resistant element selected from Mo, W, Ta, Nb, V and Zr and Cr. The composite metal is provided to contain: 20-70% of Cu; 1.5-64% of Cr; and 6-76% of a heat resistant element by weight relative to the composite metal, wherein a remainder is comprised of inevitable impurities. In the composite metal, the particles of the solid solution, contained in the composite metal, are provided to have an average particle diameter of not larger than 20 μm and to uniformly disperse in the Cu phase with an index of the dispersion state of not higher than 1.0.

A low modulus corrosion-resistant alloy is disclosed, and comprises five principal elements, wherein the five principal elements are Zr, Nb, Ti, Mo, and Sn. Experimental data reveal that, samples of the low modulus corrosion-resistant alloy all include following characteristics: hardness of at least 250 HV, Young's modulus less than 100 GPa, yield strength greater than 600 MPa, and critical pitting potential greater than 1.3V. As a result, experimental data have proved that this low modulus corrosion-resistant alloy has a significant potential for application in the manufacture of biomedical articles including medical devices and surgical implants. In addition, this low modulus corrosion-resistant alloy is also suitable for application in the manufacture of various industrially-producible articles, including springs, coils, wires, clamps, fasteners, blades, valves, elastic sheets, spectacle frames, sports equipment, and other high-strength low-modulus corrosion-resistant structural materials.

A high strength and low modulus alloy is disclosed, and comprises at least five principal elements and at least one additive element. The principal elements are Ti, Zr, Nb, Mo, and Sn, and the additive element(s) are V, W, Cr, and/or Hf. Particularly, a summation of numeric values of Ti and Zr in atomic percent is less than or equal to 85, and the additive elements have a total numeric value in atomic percent less than or equal to 4. Experimental data reveal that, samples of the high strength and low modulus alloy all have properties of yield strength greater than 600 MPa and Young's modulus less than 90 GPa. As a result, experimental data have proved that the high strength and low modulus alloy has a significant potential for applications in the manufacture of various industrial components and/or devices, medical devices, and surgical implants.

HEAT RADIATION MEMBER

A heat radiation member excellent in electrical insulation and better in thermal conduction is provided. The heat radiation member includes a substrate composed of a composite material containing diamond and a metallic phase, an insulating plate provided on at least a part of front and rear surfaces of the substrate and composed of an aluminum nitride, and a single bonding layer interposed between the substrate and the insulating plate, the heat radiation member having thermal conductivity not lower than 400 W/m.Math.K.

COPPER ALLOY FOR VALVE SEATS

A copper alloy for valve seats, and more particularly a copper alloy for valve seats with improved wear resistance, contains 12 to 24% by weight of Ni, 2 to 4% by weight of Si, 7 to 13% by weight of Cr, 20 to 35% by weight of Fe, and a balance of Cu and other impurities.

A precipitation-hardening alloy, including 17 to 23.6 at % of Ag, 0.5 to 1.1 at % of B, and a total of 74.9 to 81.5 at % of Pd and Cu, wherein the at % ratio of the Pd and Cu is 1:1 to 1:1.2, and the rest includes In and inevitable impurities. This provides an alloy with good overall balance, having all of maintaining low specific resistance, at least almost equal to that of conventional Ag—Pd—Cu alloys, and also having contact resistance stability (oxidation resistance), good plastic workability, and higher hardness than before.
