Bright Color Coatings for Electronic Devices
An electronic device may include conductive structures such as conductive housing structures. A high-brightness, visible-light-reflecting coating may be formed on the conductive structures. The coating may have adhesion and transition layers and an uppermost coloring layer on the adhesion and transition layers. At least the uppermost coloring layer may be deposited using a high impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) process. The uppermost coloring layer may include a TiCrN film, a TiCrCN film, a TiCN film, or a metal nitride film that contains Ti, Zr, Hf, or Cr. The coating may exhibit a high-brightness gold color.

A timepiece part according to the invention includes: a substrate; and a first coating configured from a material containing cobalt as a primary component, and 26 mass % to 30 mass % of Cr, and 5 mass % to 7 mass % of Mo. The first coating has a surface with a percentage surface area increase of 0% to 1.2% as measured by atomic force microscopy against a reference flat surface.
Decorative coatings for plastic substrates
The present invention relates to decorative coatings for plastic substrates, the decorative coatings ideally being stable and durable coatings that are spectrally tunable to permit the selection of a variety of appearances, and ideally providing a decorative metal finish. More particularly the present invention provides for a plastic substrate having a decorative coating including a spectrally controlling system and a stress controlling system. The spectrally controlling system includes alternating absorbing layers and transparent layers, and the stress controlling system controls the overall residual stress of the decorative coating to within a desired range. Further provided are methods for applying to a plastic substrate a decorative coating having a spectrally controlling system and a stress controlling system.

A magnetron sputtering apparatus includes a first independent sputtering target power supply, a second independent sputtering target power supply, a process gas port, a reactive gas port, a vacuum chamber configured to house the first independent sputtering target power supply, the second independent sputtering target power supply, the process gas port, the reactive gas port, and a platform for placing a part for deposition of a coating by the magnetron sputtering apparatus, and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to alternately sputter a first target and a second target by alternately switching between the first independent sputtering target power supply and the second independent sputtering target power supply, respectively, and control one or more process parameters to yield a predetermined color of the coating deposited onto the part.

The present application discloses a decorative sheet including a supporting layer and a solid film layer. The solid film layer is disposed on the supporting layer and presents a color. The solid film layer includes a single layer or a composite layer. A thickness and/or material of at least one layer in the solid film layer is set to be varied. In this application, through the change of the thickness and/or material of the solid film layer, the color of the solid film layer can be changed, including shade changes, color changes and other variety changes, so that the decorative sheet has rich color, rich vision, better decoration effect and higher recognition. Furthermore, the present application further discloses a cover plate for a consumer electronic product with the above-mentioned decorative sheet.

A plumbing fixture having a multi-color appearance includes a first portion including a first finish having a first appearance and a second portion including a second portion having a second appearance that differs from the first appearance. The plumbing fixture further includes a transition region between the first portion and the second portion, wherein the appearance of the third region is graduated from the first appearance to the second appearance between a first end of the transition region adjacent the first portion and a second end of the transition region adjacent the second portion. The plumbing fixture has an ombre appearance as a result of the graduated transition between the first portion and the second portion.
