ARTHROPOD REPELLENTS OBTAINED BY CHEMICALLY CONVERTING LACTIC ACID, LACTATES OR OTHER LACTIC ACID DERIVATIVES
Production of a high efficiency arthropod repellent by chemically transforming a substance used by mosquitoes as an attractant, the lactic acid, as well as lactates, in this case (S)-ethyl lactate, which is an essential attractant for A. aegypti females. The hydroxyl functional group of lactic acid must be transformed into esters, and the carboxylic acid functional group into amides, since esters and amides are functional groups already present in other repellents, such as in the structure of DEET, IR 3535 and dimethyl phthalate. The ester functional group of (S)-ethyl lactate must undergo a reaction in which the acyl functional group is substituted by an amine of interest and the hydroxyl functional group must be acylated. The structure of an attractant, or a derivative thereof, is transformed into a high efficiency repellent.
FUNGICIDAL COMPOSITIONS
A fungicidal composition comprising a mixture of components (A) and (B), wherein components (A) and (B) are as defined in claim 1, and use of the compositions in agriculture or horticulture for controlling or preventing infestation of plants by phytopathogenic microorganisms, preferably fungi.
M-diamide compound and preparation method therefor and use thereof
Provided are m-diamide compounds and a preparation method therefor and the use thereof. The m-diamide compounds have a structure represented by formula I. The m-diamide compounds of the present invention can have a high insecticidal activity at a low dose and take effect rapidly, can exert the insecticidal activity one day after application, can achieve a high insecticidal activity within three days, and have a good fast-acting property; moreover, due to the good effect at a low dose, the m-diamide compounds can reduce the damage to plants and human beings caused by excessive drug concentrations, enable less drug residue to be generated during application which is more conducive to environmental protection, and have broad application prospects.

WOOD VINEGAR CONTAINING PRODUCT AND METHODS TO CONTROL ALGAE BLOOMS, REDUCE ODORS, AND OTHER APPLICATIONS
A method of controlling odor where the odor is generated by sources like decomposing organic matter in landfills or other sources is provided. A wood vinegar-containing solution, adjusted for the source of the odor, can be applied to the source of the odor. A method of improving the rate and completeness of settling of fine clays from oil sands tailings is also provided. Additional disclosure of a method of controlling algae bloom in a body of water is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a wood vinegar-containing solution, adjusting the composition of the wood vinegar-containing solution according to the states of both the body of water and the algae, respectively, then applying the wood vinegar-containing solution to the surface of a body of water, and inhibiting growth of the algae responsible for the algae bloom.
