SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING A WATER HEATER HAVING A POWERED ANODE
A gas-fired appliance includes a tank configured to store a fluid to be heated, a powered anode extending into the tank and configured to generate an electric anode current, and a combustion chamber including a burner configured to generate products of combustion. The appliance also includes an exhaust structure, a heat exchanger, and an electronic processor coupled to the powered anode. The products of combustion flow from the combustion chamber to the exhaust structure via the heat exchanger. The electronic processor is configured to determine a duty cycle of the burner, determine whether the duty cycle of the burner exceeds a predetermined threshold, increase a magnitude of a protection parameter of the powered anode from a first value to a second value when the duty cycle of the burner exceeds the predetermined threshold, and control the powered anode according to the second value of the protection parameter.
Anode Support and or Locator Device and Method of Assembly
A water heater tank anode support and or locator device for an anode provided in a water heater tank, the support device having an anode engaging portion to engage said anode, and a tank engaging formation for operatively engaging a base of the tank.
CORROSION PROTECTION OF SEALING GAP BETWEEN ALUMINUM ALLOY AND GASKET
A tank assembly for a heat exchanger includes a tank having a heat exchange end defining an opening and a reinforcement structure. The reinforcement structure has a shape substantially corresponding to a shape of an outer perimeter of the tank and disposed about the outer perimeter of the tank. The reinforcement structure is a sacrificial anode.
Electrical contact element
An electrical contact element formed of sheet metal having a first region and a second region. Each one of the first and second regions is coated with a coating including a first layer containing a first material having a lower standard electrode potential than the sheet metal material. The coating includes a second layer in the first region which is absent in the second region. The second layer is arranged underneath the first layer and contains a second material that has a lower standard electrode potential than the first material.
ELECTRODEPOSITION SYSTEM AND METHOD INCORPORATING AN ANODE HAVING A BACK SIDE CAPACITIVE ELEMENT
Disclosed are an electrodeposition system and method with an anode assembly comprising a capacitor comprising a first conductive plate (i.e., an anode) with a frontside having a surface exposed to a plating solution, a second conductive plate on a backside of the first conductive plate, and a dielectric layer between the two conductive plates. During a non-plating mode, a power source, having positive and negative terminals connected to the first and second conductive plates, respectively, is turned on, thereby polarizing the first conductive plate (i.e., the anode) relative to the second conductive plate to prevent degradation of the anode and/or plating solution. During an active plating mode, another power source, having positive and negative terminals connected to the first conductive plate (i.e., the anode) and a cathode, respectively, is turned on, thereby polarizing the anode relative to the cathode in order to deposit a plated layer on a workpiece.

Adjustable bent housings with disintegrable sacrificial support members
Adjustable drill string housings are described for use in the directional drilling of wellbores, e.g. wellbores for hydrocarbon recovery wells. The adjustable drill string housings permit adjustment of a bend angle in the housings without removing the housings from a wellbore. In some exemplary embodiments, the bend angle can be adjusted by changing the internal stresses in a support member carried by the housings. In other embodiments, the bend angle may be adjusted by causing failure of sacrificial support members carried by the housings, and the failure may be caused by delivering chemicals through a chemical delivery system to the sacrificial support members. Methods of operating the adjustable drill string housings include multi-lateral drilling operations wherein the bend angle is adjusted when a casing window has been detected.
System and a method for notifying a user to replace a sacrificial anode
A device, system, and a method are provided for notifying a user to replace a sacrificial anode in a pool or spa system. The device is provided in the form of a body defining a cavity, a sacrificial anode, and a sensor. The sacrificial anode substantially surrounds the cavity when the sacrificial anode is coupled to the body. The sensor is at least partially received into the cavity and is in communication with a pool automation system. The sensor is designed to transmit a signal to the pool automation system when the sensor detects water within the cavity. The signal is processed by the pool automation system, and the pool automation system may then transmit a notification to a user that the sacrificial anode is depleted.
LINEAR FARADAY INDUCTION GENERATOR FOR THE GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL POWER FROM OCEAN WAVE KINETIC ENERGY AND ARRANGEMENTS THEREOF
An electrolysis cell includes an anode that has a low-density region formed from activated carbon and a high-density region formed from a plurality of graphite cylinders. There is a porous barrier that allows transport of water between the anode and a corrosion resistant cathode.
BASKET-TYPE ANODE
A basket-type anode stores plating pellets in a plating bath and is used for electrolytic plating of a steel strip. The basket-type anode comprises a reticulated member made of Ti to be placed facing the steel strip. The reticulated member contains one or more platinum group elements. When the reticulated member contains one or more platinum group elements, the corrosion of the reticulated member can be prevented, and the lifetime of the reticulated member can be improved.
