Nonlinear Optical Material and Methods of Fabrication
Disclosed is a nonlinear optical material (NLO) for use in deep-UV applications, and methods of fabrication thereof. The NLO is fabricated from a plurality of components according to the formula A.sub.qB.sub.yC.sub.z and a crystallographic non-centrosymmetric (NCS) structure. The NLO material may be fabricated as a polycrystalline or a single crystal material. In an embodiment, the material may be according to a formula Ba.sub.3ZnB.sub.5PO.sub.14.

The present disclosure relates to a method of phase-transitioning a three-dimensional Dirac semimetal into a two-dimensional Weyl semimetal and a semimetal that undergoes a phase transition by the same. The Dirac semimetal according to one embodiment may be any one semimetal of a bismuth-antimony-based semimetal, a sodium-bismuth-based semimetal, and a cadmium-arsenic-based semimetal, and may be formed on a substrate to have a thickness of 2 nm to 10 nm so that a phase transition to a Weyl semimetal is induced.
Passivation of nonlinear optical crystals
The passivation of a nonlinear optical crystal for use in an inspection tool includes growing a nonlinear optical crystal in the presence of at least one of fluorine, a fluoride ion and a fluoride-containing compound, mechanically preparing the nonlinear optical crystal, performing an annealing process on the nonlinear optical crystal and exposing the nonlinear optical crystal to a hydrogen-containing or deuterium-containing passivating gas.

The presently disclosed and/or claimed inventive concept(s) relates generally to hexagonal osmium boride, OsB.sub.2, and methods of producing the same. In one non-limiting embodiment, hexagonal OsB.sub.2 is produced by mechanochemical synthesis of osmium and boron in a high energy ball mill.
