In a process for the separation of a mixture containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide to produce gaseous hydrogen, the mixture is cooled down to a temperature below −180° C. and then separated at a temperature below −100° C. to produce a gas enriched in hydrogen and a fluid enriched in carbon monoxide, at least a part of the gas enriched in hydrogen is sent to a pressure swing adsorption separation apparatus operating at a temperature above 0° C. to produce a gas rich in hydrogen at a pressure of at least 20 bars, and at least a part of the gas rich in hydrogen is cooled in the heat exchanger down to a temperature below −100° C., reduced in pressure in a turbine down to a pressure of at least 8 bars and reheated in the heat exchanger to constitute a product rich in hydrogen at a pressure of at least 8 bars.
PRE-COMBUSTION CO2 REMOVAL IN A NATURAL GAS FED STEAM METHANE REFORMER (SMR) BASED HYDROGEN PLANT
In a hydrocarbon-fed steam methane reformer hydrogen-production process and system, carbon dioxide is recovered in a pre-combustion context, and optionally additional amounts of carbon dioxide are recovered in a post-combustion carbon dioxide removal, to provide the improved carbon dioxide recovery or capture disclosed herein.
Method to recover LPG and condensates from refineries fuel gas streams
A method to recover olefins and C.sub.2.sup.+ fractions from refineries gas streams. The traditional recovery methods employed at refineries are absorption with solvents and cryogenic technology using compression and expansion aided by external refrigeration systems. In contrast to known methods, there is provided first a pre-cooling heat exchanger on a feed line feeding the gas stream to a in-line mixer, secondly by injecting and mixing a stream of LNG to condense the C.sub.2.sup.+ fractions upstream of the fractionator. The temperature of the gas stream entering the fractionator is monitored downstream of the in-line mixer. A LNG stream is temperature controlled to flow through the injection inlet and mix with the feed gas at a temperature which results in the condensation of the C.sub.2.sup.+ fractions before entering the fractionator. A LNG reflux stream is temperature controlled to maintain fractionator overhead temperature. The fractionator bottoms temperature is controlled by a circulating reboiler stream.
Plant and method for generation of synthesis gas
Method and plant for generation of synthesis gas, comprising the steps of air fractionation to give oxygen, nitrogen and tail gas, gasification of a hydrocarbonaceous fuel to give crude synthesis gas and cleaning of the crude synthesis gas by removal of acid gas by means of cryogenic absorption, wherein the absorbent is cooled by means of a compression coolant circuit and the cooling water used is cooled by evaporative cooling by means of the tail gas obtained in the air fractionation.
Process for purifying crude synthesis gas to produce an acid gas and acid gas separator
The invention relates to a gas scrubbing process for purifying crude synthesis gas with methanol as a physical absorption medium, wherein an acid gas comprising at least hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S) is produced. The acid gas is produced in a hot regenerator arranged downstream of an absorption apparatus and subsequently separated from gaseous methanol in an acid gas separator by cooling and condensation. The acid gas separator has a condensation region and an absorption region, wherein both regions are separated from one another by a gas-permeable tray. This has the result that impurities such as hydrogen cyanide and/or ammonia outgassing from a first acid gas substream are not reabsorbed in the condensation region of the acid gas separator, thus avoiding an accumulation of impurities in the hot regenerator or other parts of the gas scrubbing plant. The invention further relates to an acid gas separator and to the use of the acid gas separator according to the invention in a process according to the invention.
APPARATUSES AND PROCESSES FOR THE RECOVERY OF CARBON DIOXIDE STREAMS
Processes and apparatuses for recovering a high purity carbon dioxide stream. A first separation zone that may include a cryogenic fractionation column provides the high-purity CO.sub.2 stream. A vapor stream from the cryogenic fractionation column is passed to a second separation zone to separate the CO.sub.2 from the other components. The second separation zone may include a pressure swing adsorption unit or a solvent separation unit. The second separation zone provides a hydrogen enriched gas stream that may be used in a gas turbine. The second stream from the second separation zone includes carbon dioxide and, after a pressure increase in a compressor, may be recycled to the first separation zone.
METHOD AND FACILITY FOR PRODUCING A TARGET COMPOUND
Disclosed is a method for the producingtiona target compoundby oxidative coupling of methane. A starting gas mixture is provided which contains an olefin, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and optionally hydrogen, wherein the olefin is subjected to hydroformylation with the carbon monoxide and the hydrogen of the starting mixture to obtain an aldehyde, wherein the paraffin and the olefin have a carbon chain with a first carbon number and the aldehyde has a carbon chain with a second carbon number which is greater by one than the first carbon number. The carbon dioxide present in the starting mixture is removed upstream and/or downstream of the hydroformylation. The carbon dioxide is subjected to dry reforming with methane to obtain carbon monoxide, and that the carbon monoxide subjected to hydroformylation comprises at least part of the carbon monoxide obtained in the dry reforming .
PROCESS AND PLANT FOR PRODUCING METHANOL AND CARBON MONOXIDE
The present invention specifies a process and a plant for simultaneous production of methanol and pure carbon monoxide which includes synthesis gas production by partial oxidation of an input stream containing hydrocarbons and subsequent methanol synthesis. According to the invention carbon dioxide is separated from the raw synthesis gas using a sorption apparatus and at least partially introduced into the input gas for the methanol synthesis reactor.
PROCESS FOR GENERATING A PURIFIED HYDROGEN PRODUCT FROM HEAVY HYDROCARBON FEEDSTOCKS
A process for producing a purified hydrogen product without a pre-reformer or pre-reforming catalyst in a fired, tubular reformer where the feed stream having a carbon (i.e., C.sub.2+) molar composition greater than or equal to five percent and is mixed with a steam stream to yield a reformer feed stream with a steam-to-carbon ratio less than or equal to three. The reformer tubes contain a nickel-based catalyst without alkali promotion.

In a process for the combined production of a) a hydrogen-enriched gas and a carbon monoxide-enriched gas and/or b) a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide by cryogenic distillation and scrubbing, a still liquor is extracted from a scrubbing column and sent to a stripping column, a still liquor is extracted from the stripping column and sent to a separating column for carbon monoxide and methane and a cooling fluid is used at a pressure greater than that of the head of the separating column for cooling at least one fluid extracted at an intermediate level from the scrubbing column.
