Various embodiments of the reactive media described herein are useful for removal of anionic impurities such as phosphate from water.
Method for forming a porous activated asphaltene material
A porous activated asphaltene material is described with a method of making and a method of using for the adsorption of a contaminant from a solution. The porous activated asphaltene material may be made by functionalizing solid asphaltene with nitric acid, and then treating the product with a metal hydroxide. The resulting porous activated asphaltene material exhibits a high porosity, and may be cleaned and reused for adsorbing contaminants.
Reactive treatment cell and systems for environmental remediation
Reactive treatment cells (RTCs) are described in combination with sediment capping systems as a means for environmental remediation. RTCs include an impermeable housing defining an interior, a permeable ceiling and floor typically including filtration materials such as geotextiles, and at least one interior compartment for treatment reagents. One RTC includes a gabion-like cage structure retaining a geomembrane-supported geosynthetic clay liner (GM-GCL) housing, while a second embodiment includes a hard, cylindrical shell as a replaceable reagent cartridge. RTCs may be employed in initial capping system installations or retrofitted into existing capping systems. RTCs may include optional baffles, flow restrictors, floating discs, sensor probes, and two or more serial reagent zones or compartments.
FUNCTIONAL MATERIAL FOR SYNCHRONOUSLY STABILIZING MULTIPLE METALS AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF, AND METHOD FOR REHABILITATING SOIL OR WASTEWATER CONTAMINATED BY HEAVY METALS (METALLOIDS)
Disclosed are a functional material for synchronously stabilizing multiple metals and a preparation method thereof, and a method for rehabilitating soil or wastewater contaminated by heavy metals (metalloids). The preparation method includes: mixing a ferrous salt, a ferric salt, a manganous salt, water, a dispersing material, and a phosphate to obtain a first mixture, and subjecting the first mixture to a first precipitation reaction to obtain a first reaction mixture containing the phosphate; adjusting a pH value of the first reaction mixture containing the phosphate to 10-12 by adding an alkali thereto to obtain a second mixture, subjecting the second mixture to a second precipitation reaction to obtain a second reaction mixture; and subjecting the second reaction mixture to a solid-liquid separation to obtain a solid, washing the solid, and drying to obtain the functional material for synchronously stabilizing multiple metals.
Decontaminant, carbon/polymer composite, decontamination sheet member and filter medium
A filter medium of the present invention includes a porous carbon material having a value of a specific surface area by a nitrogen BET method of 1×10.sup.2 m.sup.2/g or more, a volume of fine pores by a BJH method of 0.3 cm.sup.3/g or more, and a particle size of 75 μm or more, alternatively, a porous carbon material having a value of a specific surface area by a nitrogen BET method of 1×10.sup.2 m.sup.2/g or more, a total of volumes of fine pores having a diameter of from 1×10.sup.−9 m to 5×10.sup.−7 m, obtained by a non-localized density functional theory method, of 1.0 cm.sup.3/g or more, and a particle size of 75 μm or more.
Filter assembly and portable water feeder
The present invention relates to water feeder technical field, more particularly to a filter assembly and a portable water feeder. The filter assembly includes a tray and a filter piece; the tray comprises a bottom frame with a bottom plate and a supporting wall and a supporting ring, the supporting wall is arranged around its circumference of the bottom plate and extends upward, the supporting wall and the bottom plate are jointly surrounded to form a cavity, and the bottom plate is provided with a number of filter holes; the supporting ring is arranged above the bottom frame and is connected to its top of the supporting wall, the filter piece is placed in the cavity. When the filter assembly is used, water flows from the filter hole into the filter piece, and the filter assembly has the advantages of simple and compact structure.
Iron-carbon composite material, preparation method thereof and use therefor
An iron-carbon composite material and a preparation method thereof are disclosed. The iron-carbon composite material includes a three-layer core-shell structure, which successively includes a porous graphite carbon outer layer, an iron carbide intermediate layer and a nano zero-valent iron core from outside to inside. The present invention wraps nano zero-valent iron in porous graphite carbon and iron carbide, which can prevent the oxidation of nano zero-valent iron, while iron carbide effectively improves the ability to fix arsenic, realizing high efficiency and long-term use of nano zero-valent iron. Iron carbide may effectively adsorb and fix arsenic, and especially efficiently oxidize As(III) to relatively low-toxic As(V).
TRANSITIONAL WATER TREATMENT WALL FOR DIALYSIS
A transitional water treatment wall for kidney dialysis is provided. The transitional wall includes several devices positioned on a mobile frame, the devices establishing fluid communication between a water source, pre-RO treatment equipment, and an RO system. The transitional water treatment wall also provides pressure and temperature control of the water being circulated. The mobile frame of the transitional water treatment wall includes wheels for providing ease of movement of the transitional water treatment wall. The mobile frame also limits space requirements for the various devices. The transitional wall also includes electrical outlets.
PLASMA WATER TREATMENT APPARATUS FOR REMOVING COLOR WITH RESTRAINING TOTAL NITROGEN AND METHOD THEREOF
A plasma water treatment apparatus includes a plasma generator that generates plasma in water, and a porous dielectric that adsorbs nitrogen oxide generated in the water, surrounds the plasma generator, and includes silicon dioxide powder and carbon powder, thereby removing color of wastewater.
