USE OF MULTIPLE CHARGED CATIONIC COMPOUNDS DERIVED FROM POLYAMINES AND COMPOSITIONS THEREOF FOR CORROSION INHIBITION IN A WATER SYSTEM
20220154349 · 2022-05-19 ·

Disclosed here are the methods of using one or more multiple charged cationic compounds in a corrosion control composition to reduce corrosion of metal surfaces in a water system. The multiple charged cationic compounds are derived from polyamines through a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide or two reactions: an aza-Michael addition with an activated olefin having a cation group and a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide. The disclosed methods or compositions are found to be effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used corrosion inhibitors for water systems.

PROCESSING COOLING TOWER BLOWDOWN TO PRODUCE FERTILIZER
20230264984 · 2023-08-24 ·

A blowdown water stream from a cooling tower is contacted with an ion exchange resin packing, such that at least a portion of the phosphorus from the blowdown water stream adsorbs to the ion exchange resin packing to produce a water stream that has a phosphorus content that is less than a phosphorus content of the blowdown water stream. A regenerant stream is contacted with the ion exchange resin packing, such that at least a portion of the phosphorus that has adsorbed to the ion exchange resin packing, desorbs from the ion exchange resin packing to produce a spent regenerant stream. The spent regenerant stream, a first reactant stream including magnesium ions, and a second reactant stream including ammonium ions are flowed to a reaction vessel. The spent regenerant stream, the first reactant stream, and the second reactant stream are mixed to produce a product that includes struvite.

Vapor condenser enhanced by membrane evaporation

A membrane evaporative condenser (MEC) includes a repeating sequence of channels for evaporation and/or condensation are arranged, each sequence of channels includes a condensation channel for condensation of a vapor to a liquid, an evaporation channel, and zero to one hundred evaporation-condensation channels. The condensation channel has walls of a non-permeable material which exterior to the condensation channel share the wall with a liquid evaporative medium (LEM) conduit that contains a LEM. The LEM conduit includes a moisture transfer membrane (MTM), where the LEM can evaporate into an evaporation channel or an evaporation-condensation channel that can amplify the effect of the heat transfer for additional mass transfer.

METHOD FOR UTILIZING MULTIPLE SIMULTANEOUS INDEPENDENT SOURCES OF WATER IN A COOLING TOWER

A cooling tower system is disclosed. The cooling system includes a cooling tower; at least two make-up water inlet streams configured to supply water to the cooling tower; a blowdown stream configured to remove water from the cooling tower; at least one sensor monitoring water in each of the make-up water inlet streams; and a controller operably connected to the at least one sensor.

ELECTRODIALYSIS SALT SPLITTING REGENERANT GENERATION FOR WAC AND WBA RESIN COMBINED WITH SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE ON-SITE GENERATION PROCESS
20220145478 · 2022-05-12 ·

Disclosed is a combined generator technology for two purposes: 1) electrodialysis “salt splitting” (ESS) to convert sodium chloride salt into an acid (hydrochloric or sulfuric) and a caustic (sodium hydroxide) to be generated for use as regeneration solutions for weak acid cation, weak base anion, and strong base anion resin systems and 2) electro-generation for converting sodium chloride salt into an aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite both with the intention of treating make up water and/or recirculating in a cooling tower, fluid cooler, or any evaporative cooling device; other salts will apply to the process in addition to sodium chloride (example sodium sulfate).

HEAT PUMP SYSTEM WITH ELECTROLYTIC BIOCIDE-GENERATING UNIT

The present disclosure relates to a heat pump system for transferring heat using a body of water. The heat pump system includes a water pumping system and a heating and cooling loop that directs a working fluid through a heat exchanger where heat is transferred between the working fluid and water from the body of water. The water pumping system includes an inlet line, an outlet line, and a pump. The pump moves the water from the body of water through the inlet line to the heat exchanger then through the outlet line and back to the body of water. A biocide generating device is positioned along the inlet line for providing real-time generation of biocide in the water flowing through the inlet line. A recirculation line directs water from a tap location on the inlet line positioned downstream from the biocide generating device to the water intake.
